FALSE ADVERTISING BY STRAW HAT ON HOPYARD Restaurants, posted by Upset in P-Town, a resident of the Birdland neighborhood, on Jul 6, 2009 at 1:46 pm
Last week, a full page, color ad came out advertising a 50 year celebration at Straw Hat, where they were rolling the prices back to 50 cents a personal pizza on Monday's throughout the month.
On the back of the ad, the Straw Hat in Pleasanton is listed, when you go in there, they are not honoring the deal. So here you have an add to get people in the door, yet once you are there -- no deal.

That's B.S. I haven't seen the ad or gone in and try to get the deal but if what you are saying is true, that's just wrong and maybe illegal. I bet if people complain to the right person you'll get some sweet 'sorry bout that' deals. I think Mountain Mikes still has a $5 all you can eat lunch.

Just another tasteless advertisement gone bad. Example: Big-O Tires during fireworks display on July 3rd-airplane advertisement. They should publicly apologize for that disruption. My first thought was, as a client of Big-O, I'll buy "American" next time.

I'm not sure how this kind of business works, but maybe they aren't part of the regular franchise like the rest of the Straw Hats. When I lived In Tahoe, the Blockbuster didn't partake in the no late fee's deal- how you have 7 days or something after the initial due date and after that date you own the movie. I asked a worker at the Blockbuster and she said something about the owners, something about franchises, and that's all I remember.

Looks like the Hopyard location was initially part of the promotion, then they pulled out, for whatever reason, after the ad was printed. Good business sense would dictate that they should honor the ad. The negetive PR will cost them much more.

OK -- it was in the Tri-Valley Herald, which means it also ran in the Valley Times since they are the same paper basically. And no, it's not a hoax. I talked with a member of the Straw Hat corporate office and he agreed it was wrong they didn't honor it. True, not everyone has to cooperate, but if you're going to have your location on the ad, I think they should honor it.
Pete and Cholo, please get your information straight before ripping into someone for something where it is you who are wrong.

Thank you Upset in P-Town. Was that so hard to clarify the source? No...I was not wrong to ask. Information is a valuable asset to have. Again...Thank You.

A current employee informed me that he didn't know a thing about it and as far as he was concerned, everybody would have to pay the current full price. He even stated that he didn't believe me and I walked out.

Why is anyone eating pizza? Sorry, a friend of mine just gave a presentation on fast-food and to be honest fast food is gross, unhealthy and leads to posts like this one. Go to your local grocery store and buy $.50 of celery or green beans. Eat them and unleash the true intelligence that lingers underneath fat infested food.

Let's not forget, at Straw Hat the OWNER is there everyday working his butt off for his customers. You just don't find that anymore. This may have a chain attached name but the owners are hardworking!!! I will eat there anyday, coupon or not!!!
