Senator John "Republican Family Values" Ensign Loves Marriage

Original post made by Sam J. on Jun 17, 2009

Senator John Ensign proves that GOP family values are alive and well. No hypocrisy. Here are some of his great quotes:

"Marriage is an extremely important institution in this country and protecting it is, in my mind, worth the extraordinary step of amending our constitution."

"I believe that marriage should be defined as that between one man and one woman. You want to do what is ideal for children and all of the studies show that the ideal for children is to be in a household with a father and a mother...."

...And the staffer the father is got with on the side.
Yes, on Tuesday, Senator Ensign admitted to cheating on his wife with a staffer Web Link

And of course in the interest of consistency, we can expect Ensign to announce his resignation, given that he called for Bill Clinton to resign in light of his extramarital affair with Monica Lewinsky.

Doesn't matter rep, dem, american, french, russia, chini, or whatever but a male whichis consistent and he got a free shot and took it as most do when confronted with a stupid female.

Neither Democrats or Republicans should ever point fingers in these instances...FDR,Ike,JFK,Clinton...are the top dogs, but there have been many in both parties. You know what they say about politicians who live in glass houses...?:) :(

I agree Joe - there are examples of such behavior on all sides.

I saw the cheater on TV last night and I am not convicned that his apology is sincere. It's more about damage control. I want to know more details, like is a blue dress or something else involved? Where did they get together? What lies did they tell their spouses? Details please.........BUSTED!

It's not equal to Clinton's situation. Clinton lied under oath and lost his license to practice law in Arkansas as a result of lying.

The senator from Nevada is a human, and all humans fall short of perfection. I do, you do. What's new here that isn't just GOTCHA politics.

Honestly I could care less if a politician cheats on their spouse - that's between the two of them. Engaging in adultery in and of itself does not mean you are a poor example of a human being, politician, etc. I think what bugs most people about this guy is the fact that he spouts off about marriage and family values knowing full well that he himself engaged in behaviour to the contrary of what he "preaches". Many people can forgive adultery when it doesn't personally involve them, but hypocrisy? That's a tougher pill to swallow.

This is not about Gotcha politics. It's about a Senator who had sex and broke his marital vows. He ran off at the mouth about Clinton and tried to get his buddy Larry Craig to step down. It's about hypocrisy.

Now that it's clear that he does not respect the sanctity of marriage between 1 man and 1 woman, who knows what he will try next? Sex with dogs, sheep, raccoons, donkeys, cows, heaven forbid! No my friends, this 2 faced creep needs to step down out of respect for the sanctity of marriage that is understood to be between 1 man & 1 woman! No more, no less.
