Schwarzenegger's Threat to Cut 5000 State Worker's Jobs Is a Joke Since There Are Over 334,000 Of Them-
State, National, International, posted by frank, a resident of the Pleasanton Heights neighborhood, on May 18, 2009 at 9:43 pm

Look at some recent 2007 numbers.

Web Link

The "black plowman" is trying to scare you, the voter, in passing the ridiculous propositions that solve nothing. Why do we need so many state employees? They take away $2 Billion in compensation from the approximate $100 Billion budget and then send the rest of the approximately $98 Billion plus onto education, city, and county governments which in turn distribute the monies to their employees, with total compensation packages mandated by union contracts.

Cutting 5000 workers is nothing compared to what every day happens in the private sector where companies cut much more than this number, and these companies don't pull in $100 Billion in revenues, like the state does.

Thanks, Frank. I used to be afraid of the "black plowman," but after some of my friends and I went in there and had a couple of pints, I felt a lot better. I don't believe that the pub has as many employees as you suggest, though. Still, sorry to hear they're struggling.
