Meet Our New Neighbors: Islamic Radicals from Gitmo

Original post made by Amy, Del Prado, on Apr 29, 2009

Dear Obama (and all other democrat congressmen):
You have not done ONE THING to make this country safer. On the contrary, this country is much more in danger because of your appeasment policies, reduction of defense spending, and many other things.

And now you've decided to not only release Gitmo prisoners, you want to resettle them into our communities. (I am sure you would welcome them next door to your home and family too...all in the name of multi-culturalism.)

Americans should sure feel safer that you're now our commander in chief.

Here is the link for others to read about your 'generous' hospitality given to those who want to kill us.

and to think I voted for him. Well in my defense McCain was terrible also and after Bush I thought nobody could be worse but I fear I might be mistaken. I suspect we are safe from terror attacks as he is and will do more damage to the US than any 1,000 terrorists. I heard on CNN last night that of all the countries of the world France is the only country to offer to take any of the gitmo detainees and they said they will take a maximum of 1! I think they should all be released into the US prisons into the general prison population and then the problem is solved

Try to remember Amy and Frank, that some of these prisoners have done nothing wrong. They were "detained" by us for any number of reasons. Some have plotted against us, but others have not. It is a proven fact that we have detained men without cause and kept them locked up for years (with no charges against them) because of who they know, or where they are from. We have tortured them, and broke them down mentally. We have went to great lengths to build our reputation as a 'bully'. The previous administration worked very hard to try to intimidate the rest of the world. This country has followed its own path regardless of who we harmed. It is no wonder that most of the outside world has an unfavorable opinion of our country. President Obama has made it a high priority to improve our countries image. He has taken big steps in fixing the 8 year slide we have been on. Its only been 100 days, so lets wait and see. He has 2,920 days of mistakes to make right!

American, are you saying that they were just walking around and we rounded them up for no reason and tortured them? Hmmmmmm I suspect you really do not believe that and if true and they citizens of other countries they would be trying to get them back. I did not like Bush and do not like Obama either and both in their own way took and are taking this country down a path of no return with both Bush's tax debt and now Obama's entitlement debt. Just wait until the Chinese stop buying our debt.

Just the facts Frank. Sorry no links, just cut and paste this time. (no time)
Muhammad Saad Iqbal is a free man after serving more than six years at the U.S. military's detention facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba -- without any charge. Now, Iqbal is considering suing the U.S. government for unlawful detention.
U.S. District Judge James Robertson criticized the government's detention of Abu Bakker Qassim and Adel Abdu Hakim, who have been jailed at Guantanamo for four years; they have been cleared for release because the government has determined they are not enemy combatants and are not a threat to the United States.
Ruling from the bench, a federal judge has found that five Algerian men were held unlawfully for nearly seven years at the U.S. military facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and ordered that they be released "forthwith"
In 2001, 19-year-old Murat Kurnaz was an innocent man caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. Accused of being a terrorist, he spent five years in Guantanamo before being release
Adel is innocent. I don't mean he claims to be. I mean the military says so. It held a secret tribunal and ruled that he is not al Qaeda, not Taliban, not a terrorist. The whole thing was a mistake: The Pentagon paid $5,000 to a bounty hunter, and it got taken.
More than a fifth of the approximately 385 prisoners at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, have been cleared for release but may have to wait months or years for their freedom because U.S. officials are finding it increasingly difficult to line up places to send them.

American, I do not know where you got the link or even if it is valid but what about the other 4/5's. I believe some innocents are there but some must be some very bad guys. Would you want them all as your neighbors?

Didn't you guys watch Harold & Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay? It's very likely some innocent souls are locked up for no reason.

American, you are aware that this is the same Col. Wilkerson who prepared Colin Powell's remarks in 2003 before the UN and did not complain at all about any of this until he was no longer an employee of Powell nor our government? Seems he has an axe to grind. I am not saying the are all bad but do believe most of them are. How about Sheik Mohammad who was waterboarded and he is the one who claimed he cut of Daniel Pearl's head on video. Put them on trial and if found guilty put them in prison in the countries they are from and if innocent release them in the countries they are from and move on.

If I was waterboarded I might tell you who shot Kennedy...that doesn't necessarily make it freaking SO!
Look, we got off in a crazy direction. Relax Frank, we are on the same side (with didn't takes)...I have no beef with you. I was just bored today. Lets just call it a day and both pray this administration can make good on alot of their promises. I Bid you a "good day , sir"...

American, no harm no foul. I did not like Bush and will not give the stick man a break either. he needs to deliver on something other than sit up there talking to his computer. I waterboarded my dog and he did not confess to a thing :)

Yes, what a hilarious editorial from the LA Times. Although I'm not sure that you or the editorial staff would be laughing if someone was suggesting that you give up freedom of speech, freedom of the press, due process of law, etc...

You're right. The Patriot Act wasn't nearly as funny.

This administration's definition of 'torture' is akin to the treatment most over us (over 50) received in grammar school.
Spare me the bleeding heart routine for these jihadists, who are not U.S. citizens, on foreign soil and therefore not granted rights as a citizen.
If you're so concerned, host them as foreign exchange radicals.

Amy...I echo your comments.

Here is a recent article on Eric Holder's comments on Gitmo detainees and where they should be placed.

Eric Holder...you are a disgrace as U.S Atty. General and have already broken your promise to abide by the Constitution and protect America.

Here is the article...

for those of you that wanted a war you got it...

war is all about insanity... a few of the prisoners might even end up working in CA, picking crops, poisoning the food that is sold at the local farmer's market...cope!

many of you could also join up and serve...shoot 'em up! bang! bang! go for it!
