McNerney REFUSED to speak at the bi-partisan TeaParty!
State, National, International, posted by Amy, a resident of the Del Prado neighborhood, on Apr 16, 2009 at 9:55 am

This Pleasanton Tea Party was a wildly successful event with between 2,000 to 3,000 people attending. It was bi-partisan and our U.S. representative was invited to speak but he REFUSED!

Your refusal, Mr. McNerney, SPEAKS VOLUMES about your commitment to represent, listen to, and communicate with your constituents!

Get real. There was nothing bipartisan about it. McNerney's refusal to be suckered speaks volumes about his judgment.

There was nothing bipartisan about it except for the Democrats and non-partisans that showed up.

thank you Mr. McNerney for not speaking at this GOP right-wing event, now why didn't Rick Santelli come and speak - he is a TRUE American hero - and if it wasn't for his virulent nastiness folks wouldn't have even been out at the public tax-payer funded park yelping and screaming that they don't want to pay anymore taxes - let's keep corporate welfare going though - so everyone can live comfortably in their tony communities such as Pleasanton and seemingly not have to pay for it out of their own pockets

Maybe he was watching on Fox News. This was not a non-partisan event. It was a rip-off on Ron Paul event.

Did anyone really expect someone that's a part of this mess to show up at this event...

Did any of our "local officials" attend???

I was hoping that CNN would show up so i could get some reliable unbiased news and not some Fox Editorialization.

I attended McNerney's "Congress at your Corner" in February. What he had to say there would not have gone over very well at Wednesday's event.

He said the top marginal tax rate should be 90%. (I even asked him to repeat that one to make sure I heard it correctly.)

He said he had not read the stimulus bill but that he "knew what was in it."

It's a good bet that no one really read the bill. They probably read drafts though.

I was just getting ready to post the same thing dkl stated.

Why would someone who wouldn't mind a 90% tax rate want to speak at a TEA party? The guy is incompetent and I can't believe he keeps getting reelected over and over again :(

John,

If you like CNN, fine, but why would you call it unbiased? There is not a news network out there that is unbiased. I feel kind of sorry for you for thinking that way.

I read in the newspaper yesterday that taxes are at the lowest point that they have been in three decades. Makes me wonder about the people attending these tea parties.

Hey dkl:

You mean those McNerney "Congress At Your Corners" where the locations are so small that they only allow for a handful of people, and where he conducts one-on-one "WHISPER SESSIONS" with his constituents where no one else can hear what his positions are?

These "Congress At Your Corner" sessions are a joke. They only serve as a "check off" item on his list which states he should "communicate" with his constituents. He is pathetic and votes 100% in lock-step with Princess Pelosi.

June,

Did the article account for the erosion of real wages during those three decades?

i wish i could charge people who feel sorry for me - i could retire. Pulling your leg Alee. Hard to find a news source that doesn't have an agenda. So many papers and yes, even the Weekly, have a slant. i think most reporters and journalists are just practicing till they get their great fictional novel published. The papers are imploding-local news programs not far behind. They opted for entertainment over factual information and they are losing badly as a result.

It CERTAINLY does, Amy!

I don't think you should be surprised, however; He IS part of the administration that has already broken all spending records in the history of this country, and they haven't even been in power for 100 days yet! We may have to hold WEEKLY TEA parties!

So McNerney refused to speak to a bunch of bitter, hate filled, out of touch Republicans? THE NERVE!!!! I'm sure Richard Pombo would have made it if he wasn't so busy hunting endangered species on his ranch out in Tracy.

Was the 90% tax rate thing said in context of clawing back bonuses for AIG execs who got bailout money, or did he mean it to apply in general?

Posted by Alee, a resident of the Highland Oaks neighborhood, on Apr 17, 2009 at 1:47 pm

Dan= pro-establishment just like McNerney.

He's definitely drinking kool aid instead of tea.

I am not sure anyone would have wanted McNerney there afterall he might have had to explain his part in getting things the way they are and his plan to taxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx is way out of it!!! The guy is a real genius isn't he? He is sure doing a fine job!!!

Posted by Russell, a member of the Vintage Hills Elementary School community, on Apr 17, 2009 at 6:05 pm

Does anyone know the answer about the 90% tax? Can someone show a link to information on it, or was it something he said off the cuff?

Posted by amy, a resident of the Del Prado neighborhood, on Apr 17, 2009 at 9:43 pm

Russell:

Here is a link regarding a discussion one person had with McNerney where the 90% tax figure was mentioned...

Dan,

Did you move to Birdland because you are a (left wing)loon and figured a place called Birdland would be a loon sanctuary?
