Parcel Tax Makes Renters Winners and Condo Owners Losers
Schools & Kids, posted by frank, a resident of the Pleasanton Heights neighborhood, on Mar 20, 2009 at 7:54 pm

Approximately one in seven students in the Pleasanton school district live in modest to high amenity attached housing units which include both apartments and condos (excludes duets). Renters will see no $233 per year bill but condo owners will. Meanwhile, the folks up in the hills with their mansions will pay the same as that condo owner living in what used to be apartments before conversion.

The parcel tax is unfair. Anything on top of the established property tax should be a user fee.

Perhaps those are the grounds for challenging the parcel tax in court if it passes. :)

With Obama planning to limit tax deductions of mortgage interest for those making a household income of $250K or more, coupled with a possible parcel tax, more than half of Ptown residents are better renting than owning. Now, that will hurt your home values.
