Teen Drug Overdose This weekend

Original post made by Rich, Parkside, on Mar 10, 2009

I am hearing that there was Amador students partying in Ruby Hill this weekend and one was taken by ambulance to the hospital because of a drug overdose. Does anyone know what happened? Did this occur at a party in Ruby or was this at the park where the kids like to hang out?

My child hears just about all the scuttlebutt going around and I asked her and she hadn't heard a thing.
It's probably someone trying to stir up more drama - unless the local police have a report - it probably didn't happen.
Call them 931-1500 and ask before posting drama.

While the police will not always confirm such an issue (due to age and discretion) I, too felt it was something being stirred. We have to face the facts that there are kids out there doing drugs and drinking in 'each' community and there are regular incidents of kids being taken to the hospital or the police station.

Let's not be so specific (the Ruby Hill part of it)and instead discuss the issue, because it really doesn't matter 'where' it happened.

Rich has every right to post this question, including where this alleged incident happened. Lighten up. Parents in this town need to know what is going on. Rich if you here anymore, please post it, WHEREVER it happened.

As a parent I want to know what the drug trends are in our town. We need not point fingers we are one community.
I understand there is a form of ecstasy that is making a resurgence here. Emily can you do a story on the drug trends to inform the community? There was a recent workshop that I was not able to attend could you do a summary?

I did hear about a teen arrested for being under the influence (drugs, not alcohol). The teen was taken to the hospital as normal precaution, but not an overdose. It was a teen IN Ruby but didn't live there. Because of the age not much more is known.
The big issue is the ease of obtaining drugs. Talking with your high schoolers about turning down all offers - drugs and alcohol alike - making smart decisions - this could be a good conversation starter.

This did happen. The teen is OK and is facing possible charges. The teen was in Ruby but was walking the streets at the time. There was more than one possible drug being used but the teen was having a siezure indicating Ecstasy as the culprit. Ecstasy is one of the drugs being used heavily by teens in Pleasanton. No one should be pointing fingers at anyone. All teens are vulnerable to these behaviors and mistakes.

he was walking by himself in ruby with no ride anywhere and eventually wound up on the front lawn of someones house and started having a seizure. he is fine now and back at school. yes he is facing possible charges.

hes still a good kid

Glad he is OK and hope he has learned something from this unfortunate incident. We all make mistakes, and sometimes bad decisions help us make better ones next time. He is lucky to have a second chance as not all drug users get that second chance.

Thank you AVHS Student,

I'm thankful he is fine, glad they got him necessary medical help, and expect him to face charges for his actions. It does happen to so many teens. The biggest worry is that it is so prevalent and can have such a devastating impact. I only wish our youth (everywhere) had other things to be inspired by, rather than drugs to numb their minds with.

Please, student, start a movement by peers to take a stand against drugs. Can you? Will you?

Don't miss out on the discussion!
