The Valley Times had an article this morning about Dublin signing up with crimereports.com. This would be great for Pleasanton as well, don't you think? I plan to talk to PPD to see if they'll sign up as well.

I think that's a great idea.

I checked it out yesterday. Very straight forward and easy to use site: Web Link

Per the site they charge a city $99 a month and upload data nightly.

I also think it is a great idea. Vigilant partents can then have a resource to provide an immediate guardband of safety for the environment of their children... instead of having to wait for the weekly report in the paper.

I concur. Unsupervised Ruby Hill high school-aged parties, drugs around Jack in the Box, "shoulder-tapping" customers going into Perry's Liquor, shop-lifting booze from Safeway and kids doing things in the parks after curfew on weeknights leads to bad stuff. Police need community support. Kids in this town have money and drug dealers are dealing. Kids need part time jobs. I would like to see the Chamber and city find a "partnership teen jobs" program of some sort to provide a few jobs to our youth. I know the economy is bad but kid labor might save them some bucks too.

I heard back from PPD. It's not in their budget right now, but they will revisit this project in the future. Evidently they now finally have the technology to integrate with a system like crimereports.com, due to a massive system upgrade they underwent in 2007.

Not in the budget right now? $199 a month (population over 50k) and no set up fees?
