Shrinking Enrollment at Amador?
Schools & Kids, posted by John Adams, a member of the Amador Valley High School community, on Feb 5, 2009 at 8:44 am

Checking my child's "Zangle" GPA, I noticed in the last column that the class of 2011 started with 711 kids, dropped to 609, now up by 20 or so.

Where did these kids go? It's alarming to me that 14% of the class disappeared. How many are gone from the other classes?

If you haven't noticed, people are leaving Pleasanton. Our state unemployment rate is now over 7 percent. People don't always announce when they leave - they just pack up and go - renters and homeowners alike.

I'm sure they're not heading to private schools!

I have noticed that my son's GPA has also changed and it is not because his grades changed. Is this Zangle thing correct. I have heard that some student's GPA are wrong and colleges are finding problems with Pleasanton's transcripts. Have you hand check your kids GPA? A=4 B=3 C=2 D=1 F=0. Add up all of his grades and divide by the number of grades you just added up. This will equal his GPA.

In case you haven't noticed, California is no longer the "Golden State." People and the kids they spawned are leaving. Wanna bet that's a major factor in that 14%?

Zangle and Zillow etc... are estimation sites to allow the general public to supposedly have an objective forum to measure communities equally for housing, education etc.... Unfortunately they rely on a template approach the isn't very objective. My experience with the college application process over the last several years is that Pleasanton School transcripts are very highly regarded.

Not one college that I'm aware of even considers Zangle in its admission process.

Dear Zestimates...zangle IS used in the admission process at colleges because zangle is the new system that the PUSD is using to keep track of a student's history. However they've had major problems with the implementation. Probably not surprising - the information OUT is only as good as the information IN. The GPA's and class rank and course information that is listed on a student's transcript is what is generated out of zangle....so all colleges see it eventually. The transcripts my high schoolers used to get is much more informative than what we are now getting from zangle.
