Paid advertisement by Robert Byrd?

Original post made by I don't understand on Jan 11, 2009

I just read the paid advertisement, "Downtown, Pleasanton Part II" by Robert Byrd. Is he seriously comparing a coffee shop where patrons buy a $3.00 cup of coffee to the beautiful Rose Hotel, which draws business travelers from all regions ( who pay $300 per night), most who dine at our downtown restaurants (on their company credit cards)...and calling Tullys the victor? Who is this guy, anyway, and why/how does he have the time and money for this paid ad that doesn't make sense?
