YES-Fresh and Easy in P-town is staying open

Original post made by Stella on Sep 11, 2013

Anyone else happy that Fresh and Easy in P-town is one of the lucky stores to be staying open? Awesome store, excellent prices, fresh produce and wonderful friendly employees. (well there is one employee not to nice.

If you haven't shopped here yet (come on now they have been open for over two years now), I recommend them for all your food shopping. Always can find a parking spot.

What does "not to nice" mean? Please explain.

I dropped by Fresh and Easy to check them out right after they first opened their store here in Pleasanton. I was not impressed: Nothing much unique or interesting in the way of projects. Nothing special in terms of prices. And I found the atmosphere pretty cold and sterile with colorless aisles lit with harsh fluorescent lighting. I concluded that Trader Joe's had them beat on all counts and have never returned.

I usually stop in once a week. Trader Joe's has them ALL beat. We have so many choices, I've become a pretty 'selective' shopper. I hit Safeway, Trader Joes, WalMarket, F&E. Good for us all, while we have those choices.

I have been shopping at the new Walmart grocery. Love the wide aisles. Haven't been buying meat there but decided to try a tri tip. Huge one, cost under $12 and it had very good flavor and was extremely tender. I was pleasantly surprised. I usually buy tri tips from Genes to the tune of over $20 a piece. Needless to say I will be trying other meat selections from Walmart Market.
Does anyone get their produce from the Ranch 99 Market? It is always fresh and I like that there are no sprinklers wetting everything down. It has such a big turnover that I guess they don't need to water things.
We have a lot of grocery options in our town and that is a good thing!

Sam-you try try Fresh and Easy again-the harsh lighting has been changed and the employees are awesome. I would like to say except for one too-I wonder if its the same person. Fresh and Easy doesn't have sprinkiers either getting the produce wet and there everyday specials are awesome.

Walmart is not a place to go for fresh meat-or veggies for that matter.

Fresh and Easy have wonderful coupons and you can use them more then on ce in the same transaction, parking lot is great-no near accidents like the trader joe lots and clean restrooms.

I am so thrilled with the New Leaf store that I had forgotten F&E even existed.

I was enthusiastic about the arrival of Fresh and Easy and would have shopped there fairly regularly, had it not been for the self-checkouts.

Before moving to California, I spent years racing to pack my own groceries at the checkout, because I had no choice. As a result, I really, REALLY appreciate the excellent service provided checkout operators and courtesy clerks here in Pleasanton. And despite the lure of the technology, I refuse to contribute to the elimination of their jobs by using self-checkouts.

I'm hoping that the new owners of Fresh and Easy will do away with the compulsory self-checkouts and introduce fully-manned ones. If they do, maybe I'll give Fresh and Easy another try.

Mrs Jhh-don't be afraid to ask for someone to ring up your items. Many people do ask for help and I am more then happy to offer my services.
