Because the state is run by Democrats

and that's what Democrats do...they spend

oher people's money.

Also, Democrats just love raising taxes (on other people's incomes) because they are experts at not paying taxes. Former Senator Barack Obama, Former Senator Chris Dodd, Senator Dianne Feinstein, Senator Barbara Boxer, Former Congressman Barney Frank, Congressman Charlie Rangell, Congresswoman Maxine Waters, and Former Secretary of the Treasury Timothy Geithner are prime examples.

The only way they will ever get the Bullet Train through Santa Clara and San Mateo counties is to start condeming properties, and for the state government to withhold money from CalTrain until they cooperate. Santa Clara and San Mateo counties have always been a wart on the butt of mass transportation.

On the other hand, the Bullet Train is a folly because the state is broke and we already have the highest taxes in the nation. Their idea of starting out with the Bullet Train from Nowhere to Nowhere in the Central Valley would be a riotous joke if wasn't for the fact that it will come at great pain to the taxpayers, and will be able to do little more than haul cows, grain and hay from one farm town to another and 200 mph.
