The 41st annual Foothill Band Review, one of the largest of its kind on the West Coast, will kick off at 8 a.m. today with a parade on Main Street with more than 60 middle and high school bands from throughout Northern California participating.

At the same time, concert competitions will be held throughout the morning at Amador Valley High from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

A field show, part of the day’s competition, will start at 2 p.m. at the Foothill stadium with awards immediately after the show around 9:30 p.m.

The parade competition ends at noon with awards given at the Amador football stadium at 3 p.m.

The parade and concerts are free. Admission to the field show is $10.

The following streets will be closed tomorrow morning for the event:

* Santa Rita Road between Black Avenue and Stanley Boulevard: all traffic will be in northbound lanes with traffic diverted to Stanley Boulevard.

* Main Street between Stanley Boulevard and Abbie Street: CLOSED

* Del Valle Parkway between Main Street and Harvest: CLOSED

* Rose between Main and Peters: CLOSED

The event raises money to support impacted music programs at the school plus is one of the largest and most prestigious reviews on the West Coast.

Foothill does not compete in the competitions, since it hosts the event. But Foothill’s marching band, under the direction of Josh Butterfield, has taken first place in a number of band competitions in the state.
