An Oakland woman was arrested March 25 after a citizen reported a suspicious vehicle in the area of Calle Madras and Hansen Drive.
When officers arrived, there were three people in the vehicle — a male driver, female passenger and a male in the backseat.
The driver — later identified as Tony Schroeder — was allegedly on active probation with a search clause, and had a warrant for assault with a deadly weapon.
During the officers’ search, drugs and stolen mail were found in the car, police said.
When officers tried to handcuff Schroeder, he allegedly resisted arrest. Police reports said Schroeder told officers he needed an ambulance, and collapsed soon after.
The man started convulsing, apparently having a seizure, so officers called for medical attention, according to police reports. Officers placed Schroeder in a grassy area as they waited for an ambulance.
The passenger, 29-year-old Danielle Stedman, told officers Schroeder had not been taking his epilepsy medicine for two weeks.
According to police reports, Stedman was also on active probation with a search clause.
Police allege she was in possession of a credit card that didn’t belong to her.
The second man, Stedman’s father Daniel, was laying down in the backseat and told officers he had cancer and needed a breathing device.
Officers continued their search and allegedly found numerous mail from several cities around the Bay Area, marijuana with a pipe, shaved keys in the car ignition, paperwork that didn’t belong to any of the vehicle occupants and a stolen license plate was placed on the vehicle.
Danielle Stedman was arrested on suspicion of identity theft, being under the influence of a controlled substance, unlawful taking of a vehicle, receiving stolen property and violating probation.
Schroeder and Daniel Stedman were each taken to the hospital for medical attention.
Police say Schroeder should be charged on suspicion of identity theft, unlawful taking of a vehicle, probation violation, and possessing burglary tools and stolen property.
Police are requesting Daniel Stedman be charged on suspicion of possessing stolen property and identity theft.
In other police reports:
* A residential burglary occurred last Friday while the victims were on vacation, resulting in $1,100 worth of items stolen, according to police.
The victims’ neighbor told police she heard banging coming from the residence, located on Springdale Avenue, between 8 and 9 p.m. that evening.
Police think the culprits gained entry through a broken window.
Items reported stolen include cash, debit cards, gift cards, foreign cash, a pillow case and a Social Security card.
The unidentified thieves were not seen entering or exiting the home, police said.
* A 44-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drug-related charges Sunday night after a citizen reported a suspicious person at the Sunshine Saloon on Santa Rita Road.
When officers arrived around 10:45 p.m., Gregory Allen Soto appeared to be under the influence of drugs, according to police reports.
He was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of drugs.
Soto reportedly told officers he didn’t have any drugs on him while they were transporting him to jail. However, during booking, officers allegedly found methamphetamine in Soto’s pocket.
Soto was additionally charged on suspicion of trying to bring drugs into jail.
Under the law, those arrested are considered innocent until convicted.
