So, is the whole William Hogarty thing over?

Original post made by Jasper on Jul 8, 2014

Does anyone know if there was a plea deal? I just happened to look at it facebook page and he is preparing for body building competitions next year which seems like there's no jail time involved. We would have requested restitution if given the opportunity to weigh in. He's also back in the real estate business and doing mortgage loans again from his facebook page. He is also pawning used cars quoting that they are "like Costco" as if any of them had any understanding of what the Costco model is and how it works. I did hope he would see some time behind bars and will be disappointed if he is let off lightly. There were so many more victims that we have talked to that aren't on the criminal complaint like we are that it makes me think they need to file more charges of those not included so if he doesn't get jail time, maybe he can be banned for life from the realty and mortgage loan business permanently. One can only hope.

Jasper, I seriously doubt he's selling real estate or originating mortgage loans, if so he would be doing so without a valid CA real estate license. Like most licensed professionals it's easy to look up (CA DRE)whether any disciplinary action has been taken against a licensee. And anybody hiring him to perform real estate transactions would be a fool not to check his license status on the DRE website.

According to the Alameda County DA's Office, William Hogarty's criminal case stemming from his April 2013 arrest on charges of real estate fraud, conspiracy and perjury has not resolved. He is scheduled for preliminary hearing in August.

There's a court date next month that appears to be the pre trial hearing. He does appear to have some sort of involvement with a real estate company and a loan company despite not having a license referring to both as if they are his companies. I just found it on his facebook page. I also just read that he is planning to do multiple body building events next year so he must not think he's going to get jail time. I used to work for him so follow this somewhat. I'm sure the people that were hurt by him would like this to be over.

I can appreciate what you are saying, but this assumes he is someone that plays by the rules which this whole case seems to show otherwise. He would never go to work for another broker, in my opinion from working for him, because his ego is too big and he had to surrender his licenses that would allow him to legally operate a real estate or loan company. It would appear he has a broker named David Soto (who i know nothing about and might be a stand up guy) who is allowing bill to operate these companies under his licenses. I want to be clear that I have no inside information on this, but Bill does refer to both companies on Facebook as "we" and "our" which implies he's involved even after surrendering his licenses. Your theory assumes that everyone follows the rules which is not always the case.
