Article on "Journalism's Very Dangerous Trend" (Hmmm...)

Original post made by Hmmm... on Jun 3, 2014

Thought some of the PW readers might be interested in the following article (with video) by Sharyl Attkisson on "Journalism's Very Dangerous Trend."

If you recall, Sharyl Attkisson is the journalist who was fired by CBS because of her questioning of the Obama Administration.

Note that the dangerous trend she references is the censorship or blocking of stories that don't align with that media outlet's preferred agenda.

Does this pertain to any online paper you can think of?

Well, hmmmmm, first off, you're lying. This right-wing hack of a journalist wasn't fired as you say; rather, she resigned because her crappy stories were being consistently turned away by her editors.

Now she's 'writing' under the auspices of the Heritage Foundation -- a crappy 'think' tank financed by the Koch brothers that pushes a right-wing agenda.

Her writing is so crappy even Fox News won't touch her.

There are no real journalisits any longer, which may explain the continued downward spiral of print media revenue and broadcast 'news' advertising revenue.

Gee, Eddie, maybe getting your GED will help you with your limited vocabulary. Another 'crappy' dropout posting on the PW pretending he knows anything about journalism. Thanks for a good laugh and displaying your colosal ignorance for all to witness.

Hey Eddie, got a link indicating that she resigned because CBS thought her stories were "crappy", or is that a personal opinion?

If you read the first sentence of the link you provided, Dan, you'll note that she wasn't fired but that she resigned. Saying she was fired was a lie.

Don't need a link. Her stories were crappy, she's a crappy writer, and not even the right-wing sewer pit Fox News considered bringing her aboard.

I don't have a link stating that you're cognitively stunted as well as morally depraved. Nevertheless, it is an inference I confidently draw from your posts.

In your reply, you might lead off with an apology about how you lied about the hack journalist being "fired."

Once again, inasmuch as I'm unable and unwilling to step into the very private world you inhabit, where logic is illogic, down is up, and right is wrong, I'll simply bid you adieu here and wish all other posters who choose to deal with you all the very best.

So it's just your opinion. Thx.

And why should I apologize for something I didn't post?

The answer: "Eddie"; "Mike Cherry"; "Art Friedman"; "Michael"; "Jiaf"; "Gollum"; "Hmmm" and many many others

The question: who uses the term "cognitively stunted" in at least one post?

What a sad, pathetic sock-puppet life you lead.

You remind me of that friendless psychopath that killed all those kids in Santa Barbara.

Seek help.

Eddie is so jaded he makes a friendless psychopath look normal. Or should I say crappy psychopath.

If by "cognitively stunted" Eddie means that Dan is "operating outside the bounds of reality" then I must concur.

I find the Pleasanton Weekly's stiff censorship stance and editing of comments a dangerous trend. No other local community news sites, as best as I can tell, participate so heavily in stamping out views from the comment section, which they don't like. Might as well turn the comments off completely, but of course, the page views around this 1990's site would plummet.

Thx.

@Joyce Reardon, thank you for the link. Of course it is no surprise that the journalist hack's defender, Mr. Petulance, would admit it being too long and full of polysyllabic words to be comprehended.

Your link reminded me of how Attkisson has been Michelle Bachmann's favorite "journalist" over the years. It was Bachmann, as you'll recall, who drew upon Attkisson's bogus reporting to tell America of a direct causal link between vaccines and autism.

As regarding he who would defend this hack as some kind of a martyr, I don't know what other term than "stunted cognitive capacity" applies to him. This would certainly be consistent, like you say, with an inability to grasp the real world that surrounds him.

Eddie/Joyce (but I repeat myself),

At least I use my REAL first name and neighborhood and don't hide under a sock-puppet.

And don't think it goes unnoticed that you don't deny it, tool.

Oh, and just so I don't leave you with no comment on the actual issue...unlike yourselves, I don't judge someone on one belief. I usually give them the benefit of the doubt.

IF the journalist believes that vaccines cause autism, then that's her belief. I choose to believe otherwise.

That does not mean that Cheryl Attkisson is a bad reporter. It means that her beliefs about vaccinations are stupid.

Now I'm done with you, sock puppet.

Until we meet again.

I do not know who Joyce Reardon is, but I've enjoyed her comment and link.

As for Dan having the courage to register with his first name and a neighborhood where he once lived, well now that's real courage for you.

When a reporter begins proselytizing his or her beliefs, untethered from scientific evidence, that is a real problem. Obviously, this is why Ms. Attkisson's articles were increasingly not being printed by CBS. Being untethered from evidence, scientific or otherwise, seems not to bother the cognitively stunted one, and this irrespective of how many names he chooses to post with on the same thread.

"That does not mean that Cheryl Attkisson is a bad reporter. It means that her beliefs about vaccinations are stupid."

It might mean that her reporting on matters relating to vaccines, and science generally is bad.

John,

I can agree with that.

And then of course it would be perfectly understandable that a credible corporate media organization like CBS would choose not to run with her stories. For those stories, regarding vaccines, autism, and science generally would no doubt impinge upon the 'reporter's' writing in other areas as well. And of course, too, this makes anyone who would leap to that 'reporter's' defense a bit of an idiot.

Eddie,

Oh Eddie, I love living rent free in that great, big empty head of yours.

I, of course, don't make that conclusion based on all her other writings. If I were to use your criteria, anyone who ever makes 1 mistake should be fired.

That's simply not rational or fair.

Again bubble-head, I'll explain it to you sloooowly: I don't fault someone for ignorance on a given topic. This reporter does not have a history of being consistently ignorant like...well...you... and all your other sock-puppet posts!

Fling away monkey, I'm done watching you.

Dan

Well, actually, Dan, this reporter, Attkisson, has had an extensive history of bad reporting, as amply indicated in the link offered by Ms. Reardon -- you know, the link you claimed was too long and that had too many polysyllabic words for you to read? You know, that one? But I guess when one resorts to scrambled eggs instead of logic, there's no need to check out the facts about anything. Why bother when Fox is there to tell you how to think?
