City revenue beats expectation in fiscal 2012-13

The city of Pleasanton ended fiscal year 2012-13 more than $1 million over its projected municipal operating budget as sales and hotel taxes edged their way back from recession-year lows, the city's finance director Emily Wagner reported.

I'd respectfully recommend that the city use the surplus to purchase mortar in order to shore up defenses against the upcoming tsunami. We just can't afford to keep paying public workers, many nonessential, the way we do.
