Food Stamp Recipient Kids Being Fattened Up with Tax Payer Money?

Original post made by Anti Government Waste on Aug 16, 2013

According to the US Census Bureau, since 1996, more children are living in poverty today than in 1996 while the number of children receiving cash aid from the program has decreased.

"Percentage change since 1996 in the number of U.S. children living in poverty: +12"

"Percentage change since 1996 in the number receiving cash aid from the U.S. government: –60"

Prominent right-wing intellectual, Mark Levin, urged Congress to further cut the federal government's food stamp program (SNAP). "Instead of fattening up our impoverished children, let them grow up lean and mean. Then maybe they'll go out and find a job instead of sitting in front of the television eating potato chips and drinking cherry colas all day long," Levin said.

The poster who calls himself Right, having his ignorant viewpoints thoroughly trounced on the sites that matter, now unleashes a flurry of churlish, hate-filled comments. Such is, after all, what he does best.

Travesty? I'd like to know how many meals you or your children have had to miss over the years. That's rhetorical btw. "Right" please keep it to yourself until you can speak from experience or at least from a place of empathy.

I'm just fine with my liberalness, thanks. Your opinion of me is wholly irrelevant in the scheme of things.

Janna, it's obvious you are an unapologetic liberal, but there's still hope since the first step to recovery is admitting you have this problem.
As far as SNAP goes, even your messiah admits that it is wasting millions of taxpayers funds through the fraud that is rampant amongst it's recipients. There's no refuting this waste, you just don't like that someone to the right of Saul Alinsky is bringing it up. Open your mind and get over your petty hatred.

From the Washington Post:

Web Link

'With more Americans relying on the program, the Obama administration on Tuesday plans to announce new steps to crack down on SNAP fraud amid estimates suggesting as much as $753 million in federal food aid is spent fraudulently each year.'

Oh geez. Please tell me where I said there was no fraud or even mentioned the word? It is obvious to me that you see all users of SNAP as using it fraudulently. You are so defensive, it's clear you've never had to wonder how you would feed your kids or yourself. Don't feel guilty, just have empathy for those who struggle.

I can see you are the "throw the baby out with the bathwater type." Sad.

I will never apologize for caring about what happens to others. It's easy to judge but not really know what other people are going through.

Yes, Janna, my heart bleeds for thsoe that truly need the help. I donate regularly to the Alameda County Food Bank because I know that my donations go directly to those that need help, instead of being consumed by bloated administration, overhead, fraud and waste. Govt just can't spend money any more effectively than those of us who choose to channel our resources directly to where they are needed.
The govt has made it so easy to keep people dependent because it serves their keep people beholden to their masters and fearful the gravy train will end should they not vote democrat.
They are also fearful that without govt handouts, they may actually have to support themselves, by doing whatever work they can to support themselves....assuming they have any personal pride left.

Ah, yes the old relying on the kindness of strangers bit. Too bad most people wouldn't lift a finger to help someone in need without first judging them on their own value system. I'm sure it makes you feel like you're helping though. Unfortunately, your post seethes disgust for the poor getting something you think they may not deserve. Thank goodness you're not in charge of such things

You think the government makes it easy? It is obvious you have never had to ask for help from them. Your ignorance is stunning.

Shocking that you think people are living the high life on assistance. Really. (rolls eyes)
