Original post made by Al on Jun 9, 2013

Does anyone know anything about a car hitting a woman on a bike, killing her? On Foothill, Sunday just after noon.

I'm sure Staceleen will be along any minute to tell us that the bike rider is responsible for her own death, that secret statistics show that more than half the time it is the victim's fault, and that we must write to Sacramento to outlaw bicycles on streets. Because we're a community of compassion.

This is terrible. The city of Pleasanton has no bike lanes or sidewalks in that area around Castlewood to Golden Eagle. There is no shoulder at all on the east side of the road. It winds around and there is little to no visibility. At the new Callippe golf course, there are no sidewalks. If you walk the trail around the course, you have to walk in traffic on the road to get back.

All work on new streets has to stop so that this can be fixed.

Emergency stop and fix...really ??? This is nothing new. Every tri-valley resident knows Foothill. I think about it even when driving through there, but it is the most charming road IN the tri-valley. Better to be killed by the texters on our tri-valley streets. Choices, which route to take. A classmate of my son at Amador in 1976 was killed on the infamous 'turn'. Generations are aware and drive, ride, and choose accordingly.

Don't believe everything that is posted here. People just start rumors. I hope the kid was not drunk and it was just a bad accident otherwise it will be a very sad day for the kids who have waited 4 years to graduate to see their friend be in a situation like this.

Grad parties are happening daily so I hope kids will be more aware of what they are doing, parents watch over them they are always your responsibility no matter what.

The kid's name and details starting emerging almost immediately after the incident yesterday through texts, facebook, etc. Yes, some of us DO know some of the facts. It did not sound good for this kid who was only days away from graduation. Let's wait for the official police report to come out. I am sure his family is hurting as are so many others - this is a horrible tragedy that will effect many lives. Thoughts and prayers go out to all the families involved.

@concerned parent

we have heard the name and details as well, although not that he had been arrested. I know, through my kids, his peers at FHS, that there is an speed issue with him and his cars. This is a terrible tragedy that affects both victim and suspects families. We say this after tragedy like this strikes: "maybe others (i.e. his friends and classmates) will learn from this". Like Every 15 Minutes.

@ptwn resident

Yes, we can only hope others will learn from this. My daughter did say that the seniors especially, are taking this pretty hard today. It's getting everyone to remember this kind of incident, not just today, or tomorrow, but forever going forward so that we ALL might be just a little more cautious as we drive and go about our daily routines. It only takes a second for tragedy to strike and often consequences that last a lifetime. Good opportunity for parents to speak with their children about safety and responsibility behind the wheel. I know I did.....

It doesn't matter if the driver was drunk or not since he's at fault (all parties traveling in the same direction, overtaking vehicle causes the collision). This could have been caused by distracted driving or unsafe speed which are just as bad as DUI. Those posting that he was drunk have no way of knowing that plus they are wrong. The driver was not arrested on scene.

A tragedy for all involved. The "kid" will likely be going to jail and probably prison. If there is a pattern of reckless behavior then his family could be hit with huge civil penalties, even if he is 18. The families of both the victim and the driver will be left with their shattered lives.

I have an idea that anybody caught driving dangerously fast should, if or when still allowed to drive, be required to drive with an always on when driving GPS unit recording there trips in real time. Kind of like sexual offenders may be required to wear radio beacons.

Two and a half weeks since the fatal accident; still not enough time for lab results?
