To Whom It May Concern

Original post made by Jim Telfer, Downtown, on May 20, 2013

Hi, my name is Stanley and this is my story. How does an eight year old dog end up at the shelter? Why did my owners leave me there? I have been a good dog, I protected my family and was a loyal pet. I am also extremely handsome if I do say so myself. Even though my family left me in the yard most of the time and ignored me, I still love people. I am housebroken, I sleep well all night and I don't chew anything. I may have chewed a few things when I was young, okay a lot of things, but I am totally over that puppy stage now even though I’m still young at heart.

Stanley, I am sorry you can't join our family as you look like you would be a wonderful addition to any family. You are in great hands with the organizations helping you and I feel sure you will find a new home.

Stanley - I cannot answer why anyone would abandon an 8-year-dog. All I can say for sure - they did not deserve you, and I pray that you will find your next owner is much more rewarding to love! I hope you move into my neighborhood.

Stanley still has a good many years to enjoy. He can live to be 15yrs or so. Why do people think a dog is too old unless it is a puppy? People do not give it thought to how long a dog can be around, need to look @ their age too. Do you have good years left to be able to raise a puppy to adulthood and not have to abandon it!! Another way to look @ it, my sons are in elementary school they will be in college when their dog is "old"
