Cold Facts That Refuse to Die: Jim Carrey Badgers Fox News
Original post made by Libertarian Forever on Mar 29, 2013
One thing Fox News will not stand for is sleaze ball comedians making fun of one of the giants in their pantheon of the Gods. I'm speaking of the late great Charlaten Heston. That having been said, Jim Carrey isn't about to let Fox News have the last word.
The 51-year-old put out a statement on Friday alleging that the cable news channel had "viciously" slandered him via its coverage of the Funny or Die video he released earlier this week, titled "Cold Dead Hand," that pokes fun at the late former NRA president Charlaten Heston and his gun zealot followers.
In the statement, the "Liar, Liar" actor, who, get it, lies a lot, says he would "take them to task legally if I felt they were worth my time or that anyone with a brain in their head could actually fall for such irresponsible buffoonery." What Carrey obviously failed to appreciate is, yes, there are lots of boobs out there who fall regularly for such irresponsible buffoonery.
In the video, which was posted this week, Carrey portrays both Heston and a country singer who mocks Heston and accuses him of trying to compensate for a certain, er, well publicized small body part with guns.
As for what Fox News analysts have been saying about Carrey and the video that prompted this objective analysis: "He is probably the most pathetic tool on the face of the Earth and I hope his career is dead, and he ends up sleeping in a car the way his life began," Greg Gutfield implored on the network's nightly show "The Five" this week. "This video only made me want to go out, buy a gun, and start celebrating the 4th of July early. He thinks this is biting satire when he goes after rural America and a dead man - a God among men at that - and I couldn't care less if he had a small body part."
Another conservative Fox contributor, Laura Ingram, also bashed Carrey, reminding viewers that his latest flick, "The Incredible Burt Wonderstone," was a box-office bomb and insisting that the video was meant to deflect from his "cold, dead career. Carrey has not been funny since, I don't know, 'The Truman Show.'" She continued: "And, I don't know, if his films aren't succeeding like they used to, then it logically follows I guess that he's lying about guns and the people who shoot them." She then concluded: "Do you like my new hair style?"
Carrey, meanwhile, made it clear in Friday's statement that he wasn't taking anything Fox staffers had to say seriously. "Fox News is a last resort for kinda-sorta-journalists whose options have been severely limited by their extreme and intolerant views; a media colostomy bag that has begun to burst at the seams."
Fox News, through spokesman Bill O'Reilly, compared Charletan Heston to Abraham Lincoln, whom he knows a great deal about because he paid a ghost writer to pen a best-selling book, purchased in the millions by the Koch brothers, on Lincoln to which O'Reilly then added his name. "If you think I'm kidding, just go buy the book. It's all in there."
