Awesome news! Imagine this. A huge corporation will finally provide the competitive element to drive down gas prices in Pleasanton. This is not how things are supposed to work!
Doug is absolutely correct! Whenever you see three gas stations at one intersection, you always know you're going to get a great price because the competition between them ensures the lowest price!
As the esteemed Borat would say - NOT!
Safeway selling groceries AND gasoline? Next we'll be hearing that Walmarts are going to start selling groceries and drugs.
Thank you! I want to keep my spending local & this helps to do that. can't wait until it opens.
Fantastic, finally a 5 to 0 vote where it really matters, I love to see the oil giants knock each others brains out on pricing, we will be the winners with a choice for cheaper gas.
Glad to hear it. The other one was a bit small and at times when I'd pull in, there wouldn't be any room even to wait in line to get gas.
One more step to becoming another cookie cutter community on the side of a highway. P-Town is losing all of its charm....
I agree that another gas station is needed, but there is too much traffic on Bernal near the freeway exit already!!! I have seen the lines of cars waiting to enter and exit the Safeway gas station in Dublin.
I wish the W. Las Positas ramp would be built as it was designed in the General Plan to ease some of the Bernal traffic.....
Glad to hear it. For all the complaints from the haters, the new Safeway has been a huge time and money saver for our family. This will just help more since it will keep pricing competitive and I won't have to drive to Dublin to fill up to use my gas discount. Thanks Ptown CC for the 5-0 vote!
I agree with Mom 02-Very Glad and I know longer will have to cruise out to East Livermore or dublin to get gas at Safeway.
More NOT than GLAD??
Were any enviornmental studies were published, regarding:
a)Having underground fuel tanks near residential reas.
b)Due to heavier traffic.
Just last week, bought safeway gas in dublin, after 3 cents discount came out to be $3.57 AND 4 miles away without discount it was $3.56...and we are calling ourselves "winners".
Now do the cost/benefits analysis.
Consumers are hardly "ever" the winners.
Too many negative opinions from people who don't have enough to do, all regarding a new gas station that will be cheaper than most others.
For those who are critical, don't buy gas there. No need to be a downer for those who like the idea.
Safeway gas does tend to be cheaper than most, especially if you have the Safeway Club Card further discounts. I saved 60 cents off every gallon on one fill up once.
If you really want to find the cheapest gas, there is an Android phone app called Gas Buddy that locates all gas stations near you and shows the prices. It's also online at I think gasbuddy.com or something like that.
In addition to saying "YAY" to the Safeway gas station on Bernal, I'd like to know if anyone knows the neighborhood that Tiffany Lane is in. I hate signing in as "another Pleasanton neighborhood," especially having lived in Pleasanton for over 40 years! Thanks!
The Spud is in...vote is now 6-0. Ha!
Judy you are in Pleasanton Valley :)
Thank you! I finally belong somewhere!
I do hope all of you sheeple out there reconize this for what it is. The cheeper gas prices are a union roose to get customers into they're overpriced grocery store.
Once a Obama voter but never again
Never an Obummer voter, but the rest is so true, Steve from Parkside.
Finally you're becoming rational!
Yes, steve, lets all buy chevy volts from govt motors to circumvent the union power grab. we all know electricity is sooo green, cheap and non polluting (unless its generated with coal, nuclear, or oil products). Better to have those power plants cranking out pollution in those poor, remote areas, far from our urban bastions like berkeley and S.F.
I did not read all of the comments but upon hearing this news, it would have been nicer to have the Safeway store closer to Bernal and the gas station hidden. I am sure Wells Fargo would agree.
For years I've been advocating nuclear-powered automobiles. But the loony left govt environmentalists are being bought off by the coal companies in China.
Don't miss out on the discussion!
