Police are asking for the public’s help to locate a man who allegedly took part in an armed jewelry store robbery in San Ramon that led to the fatal shooting of one of the robbers, a police lieutenant said Wednesday.

On May 30, a group of four men, one of them armed, robbed the Gold N Treasures store at 2550 San Ramon Valley Blvd. One of those men, 18-year-old Hayward resident Kibrom Bairu, was shot and killed by someone inside the store during the attempted robbery, according to police.

Since then, police have charged two of the suspects, Hayward resident Krishneel Prasad, 19, and Gregory Lewis, 22, with murder under the state’s provocative-act doctrine, under which a crime partner may be held accountable when an accomplice’s behavior results in death.

Police Wednesday said they’re continuing to search for a third suspect in the incident, 20-year-old Michael Porter of Hayward, on suspicion of robbery, false imprisonment and conspiracy. A $300,000 warrant has been issued for his arrest, police said.

Anyone with information about the suspect’s whereabouts is encouraged to call San Ramon police at (925) 973-2763.
