All lanes on I-680 near Bernal now open after 7-hour overnight closure

All lanes of I-680 near Bernal Avenue have re-opened following a big rig crash that required about seven hours of clean-up.

I heard it all involved a prolonged dispute with Teamster goon leaders trying to get overtime pay for the driver. The more they argued while holding up traffic on the interstate, the more overtime the driver was bound to get. Figures!

Not that this incomplete article mentions it but the truck was traveling from Lathrop, Ca (just north of Manteca) to San Jose------YET this article along with Pleasanton Patch said it was traveling northbound from Lathrop to San Jose. Last I check that should be southbound.
Pleasanton weekly and P-town patch-you should do a little more research before reporting.

I heard it on KCBS as Northbound, w/ traffic blocked from Bernal to Castlewood/Sunol.

I can eyewitness report that SOUTHBOUND was at a crawl to near standstill from Bernal to Sunol Blvd (viewed from pkng lot of Safeway @ Bernal).
The the 680/Sunol Blvd UNDERPASS was also cordoned off (P'ton Police assist), no vehicles allowed to pass under 680.

So KCBS picked it up wrong, also.

(C'mon folks, run with it, I know you can. Pick one: (a) its the damn liberal media, (b) it was the CHP & P'ton unions bucking for overtime, (c) this would never happened if Reagan were president,
(d) it was really a secret technology suggling plot to Columbia to bribe prostitutes, that went awry; hence the secrecy.

Dave, how dumb can you be? Everybody knows that Walmart probably caused this. And, the "Hazardous Material" was most likely a gallon of diesel.

Yes, hitting a concrete barrier will cause a big rig to jack-knife. No reason to hit the middle barrier other then this driver was asleep at the wheel. How many early morning big rig accidents does it take on the Sunol portion of I680 before the CHP starts cracking down on these dangerous drivers?
