25th anniversary of "Occupy Pleasanton" teachers strike

Original post made by Jamestown on Nov 16, 2011

With all of this talk about Occupy various cities, it occurs to me this week is the 25th anniversary today of Occupy Pleasanton, when teachers went on strike and set up a permanent tent city downtown to camp out in Pleasanton in order to protest their low pay and demand immediate raises.

It was called "Jamestown" after the former superintendent.

This was in conjunction with 24/7 picketing of school board members houses in residential neighborhoods.

Ah, it just seems like yesterday. Does anyone remember?

I remember it as not being a high point for anyone involved.
