pay to play. I guess this is a convenient way to control/limit the attendance at this function. This is in lieu of Miley holding a town hall style meeting for fear of exposing his lack of understanding of the area and his new constituants. Good start, nate

Some folks seem to be confusing a Chamber of Commerce Luncheon (at which Supervisor Miley happens to be a luncheon speaker) with a town hall meeting. Those of you that want a town hall meeting which you could attend for free should contact Supervisor Miley and encourage him to have some.

BTW, Jeb Bing howling because he can't go eat for free is a laugh. It seems the PW always has its tin cup out lately.

Now that I look back at the headline of this post, "New supervisor to meet constituents -- for a fee", I see that the PW is misleading people. A chamber of commerce luncheon is just that, it is primarily for members of the chamber. It is not a town hall meeting for the supervisor to meet with his constituents. Since the PW knows that, it would seem the PW has an agenda.

I think Jeb is on the right track. Miley should be discussing his priorities for Alameda County and his newly created district in a public forum rather than at a paid event.

Aw, that's nothing. I wonder how many millions it costs to play golf with Speaker Boehner when he comes to town. No worries about unemployment or creating jobs here: Web Link

I'm disturbed with what appears to be the Weekly removing another poster's comments along my own. While both comments disagreed with the article's title and with the Weekly complaining about the price of a private function, I don't see any reason to censor our writings. Can someone from the staff explain why our comments were removed? I hope the removal of the posts wasn't done on purpose. Maybe it was a glitch? I look forward to the reply.

As far as this private lunch goes - why doesn't the Weekly bag their own lunch? It sounds whiny the way it is written. Since this is a private event the Weekly should be gracious for being allowed in or be professional about it and decline to cover it at all.

b, you really want to go there? How long has it been, a couple of weeks, since obami's last swing through our state to collect money from his leftist elite supports and corp. donors at $3500 a plate? Your messiah claims to support the cause of the 'occupy' mobs, but he is by far the largest recepient of donations from the very companies on Wall St. that the protestors are crying about. What a hypocrite.

Don't miss out on the discussion!
