Original post made by Midwesterner on Aug 11, 2011

Does anyone know who planted the crop of corn growing near the fairgrounds?

The corn was planted for a corn maze that is going to be part of Pirates of Emerson Haunted Adventure coming in October.

Gee, I thought it was for our food. Since corn is used in about all our food, and there are people starving all over the world. Yet we have US idiots that want to put our food in our cars. Although, after the conversions process the nest gain is zero, there are truly crazy extreme radicals that continue with that nonsense.
If there are any intelligent people who want to make ethanol, they know there are a number of better things to make ethonol from biomasses, grasses, and things that grow without water. Only the most ignorant, primitive, or blind zealots would even allow the corn in your car failure, that wastes food and wastes our money to waste that food. Outlaw the insanity.

At least corn can be re grown. Yes, it takes water, but so do so many other things we grow. What I want to know who decided that the people didn't need yellow corn, use it for something else. I go to the market to get corn on the cob, and all they have is white corn. White corn has no taste.

So nancy s. you think it's sensible to put corn in your car ??...instead of the wide range of proven more efficient, cheaper, and easier to process plants and bios that are BETTER as ethanol??
You would rather keep doing stupid and costly things in the name of politians and zealots, than admit and correct HASTILY made premature mistakes.
You must be one of those rich-off-subsidies farmers, who sells out humans in the name of cars. There might be a case to argue, IF corn was the best ethanol, but since it is not, there really is no justification. Let us have enough integrity to STOP something that either isn't right or is too costly....when it's both it becomes a crime against us all.

Like Nancy and Tango, I don't care about anyone else except me. The world is burning up at an alarming rate? Who cares. I want my yellow ears of corn.

Geez! The post had nothing to do with corn in your cars for heaven's sake. It had to do with corn growing at the fairgrounds for a corn maze. Lighten up out there or find a more relevant post to discuss ethanol.

It's topics like this and even worse the comments that proceed them that make me thankful to have moved from this narrow minded town. I'm almost embarrassed to say i grew up and lived in Pleasanton for over 20 years. Come on folks get a life.
