I’m just guesssing that this may be the wrong time for the Federal government to be spending money on a “free” (i.e. Fed-speak for taxpayer funded) picnic for their current and retired employees.
A good general policy is to create an employee activity fund that everyone kicks a few bucks into each month for this kind of thing. Such a fund also doubles as good CSR by showing the public that the company isn’t using its revenue irresponsibly.
