Pleasanton Weekly aids in CCOP Cover up

Original post made by CCOP Cover Up on Aug 30, 2010

It seems that as soon a Pleasanton Weekly caught wind of the 67 posts in a matter of a few days with candid concerns and discussion from the community, the forum was locked, as usual and restricted to register users ONCE AGAIN.

Why? Special interests again from inside the Weekly? Pressure from the Church Lawyers?

Every time a candid community discussion takes place in which sharing of experience takes place, the weekly locks a thread or contains the thread to registered users! Registered uses CAN BE IDENDIFIED AND THAT CAN BE A MAJOR PROBLEM.

Seems like the Weekly endorses the covering up of abuse AND CORRUPTION ON A CONTINUED BASIS. EDITING POSTS IS ONE THING, BUT totally silencing a community is just plain bad press and bad business practice.

Same thing happened when the problems were EXPOSED at The Church on the corner at Hopyard.

Same thing happened with the child molester mother and the list goes on. The weekly is corrupt and not neutral!

I SUGGEST that some one start a Yahoo Group Forum and re direct people interested in continuing a candid discussion.

If there is an open "forum" related tro this topic, PLEASE inform the community.

SELF HELP:
By sharing our stories, we recognize that we are not alone, and we are not guilty for what happened to us. Gradually coming to a full knowledge of this empowers us to confront the truth, and to find healthy mechanisms for healing.

EDUCATION:
We work together to educate ourselves and our communities about the effects of the abuse.

PREVENTION:
Once we learn the truth about what has happened to us, we can then use that power to bring about change. When we put our voices together, we become so strong that we can no longer not be heard.

Police Report on the Rev. Padraig (Patrick) Greene
Crimes & Incidents, posted by Jeb Bing, editor of the Pleasanton Weekly, on Nov 20, 2007 at 2:26 pm

The following is the text of the official police report on the arrest of the Rev. Padraig (Patrick) Greene by the Oakland Police Department, 455 7th St., Oakland, Ref. Document 99-21313, dated 2 March 1999:

Crime: Lewd act in public, Sect. 314, Code P.C.

Address of occurrence: 6900 Broadway (Park)

Occurred on/from: 2 March 1999, 1350 (1:30 p.m.), Tuesday

Property/Narrative:

"On 2 Mar 99 at 1350 hrs, I was assinged (sic.) to work in plain clothes at the North Oakland Sports Center (6900 Broadway). I entered the mens (sic) restroom and observed the suspect (Greene, Patrick J.) standing facing the urinal.

Mr. Greene was masterbating (sic.) with his left hand. Mr. Greens (sic) penis was erect and he was not urinating. I asked Green (sic) if he had come there for an "afternoon delight;" He said he was just relaxing (still masterbating) (sic.) Mr. Greene asked what I was there for and turned to face me.

He continued to masterbate (sic.). I responded "Whatever comes up." He replied "What comes up most (sic) go down."

I then took Mr. Green (sic) into custody."

A document from the Municipal Court on April 28, 1999 reports that Greene spent two days in custody, that bail of $1,000 was waived and that Greene was released to participate in the rehabilitation program.

On Nov. 17, 1999, after verifying that the rehabilitation program has been completed successfully, Judge Castellanos dismissed all charges.

"Every time a candid community discussion takes place in which sharing of experience takes place, the weekly locks a thread or contains the thread to registered users! Registered uses CAN BE IDENDIFIED AND THAT CAN BE A MAJOR PROBLEM." (should be: Identified)

In case anyone reading this isn't aware, there have been cases in the past where PW editorial staff have "outed" those posting on the Town Square forum and published their names and other personal information. This leaves many very leery of signing up and posting opinions under their registered names, especially when the topic is a sensitive one.

In my humble opinion, the Pleasanton Weekly has allowed for a broad range of discussion on the topic of Fr. Greene.

The PW has also published reports about the situation at CCOP. I have a personal opinion re: Fr. Greene and I have been allowed to post my comments.

I think that as the time approaches for Fr. Greene to be made the Big Chief of the CCOP, lots of members of the community are starting to panic.

ADVICE: NO MONEY IN THE BASKET...EVER! THE ARCHDIOCESE ALWAYS PAYS ATTENTION TO HOW MUCH IS NOT DONATED EVERY SUNDAY! All religious groups pay close attention to money!

I think that the disgruntled church members need to disappear if all they want to do is vent. Also, for a certain gal to tell me what this all about is falling on deaf ears. so...get lost! If SNAP choses to get involved further, it's SNAP's decision...end of story!

The WEEKLY cannot be party to character defamation. For all his many faults and incapacities, Greene is not a pedophile. Those involved in this discussion need to stick with the facts. They are more than damning enough.

I second the idea of a Yahoo Group Forum. This conversation needs to continue. The truth must be told.
