Dead: 19. Injured: 60.

Original post made by mark on Jun 1, 2010

The author of this article states
"Gaza is both the world's largest open-air prison and the 21st century's undeclared concentration camp. Everybody knows it."
It appears that very few Americans have any clue about what is going on there, and without the US Governments/Americans support of Israel, none of the atrocities would exist period. For some, the truth of this is to much to handle, and will remain in denial.

Israel's killing of 19 innocents with 60 more injured must have maximal consequences

Israel impunity is a threat to all

[Arabic]- [Franšais]- [Espanol] - [Nederlands]

Even for eyes burnt witnessing human suffering, there is something shocking, something impossible, about watching Israeli soldiers, armed and in gas masks, fast-roping from helicopters onto an aid ship filled with civilians — journalists, parliamentarians, human rights activists, mothers, doctors — headed to Gaza to break the inhuman siege that keeps 1.5 million people somewhere between life and death.

The Mavi Marmara, carrying 10,000 tons of humanitarian aid, was flying a white flag: a universal symbol of non-violence. It was also flying the Turkish flag, in international waters, giving it status as a sovereign extension of Turkey. Regardless, Israel attacked. For what does Israel fight? Its existence, or the continuance of a regime of collective punishment calculated to destroy the Palestinians? Or are these the same thing? Dead: 19. Injured: 60. Who gave the order? Will NATO react to an attack on one of its members?

Simple public murder

The right to exist cannot be asserted through murder. The very acceptance of Israel into the United Nations System was — in 1948 — conditioned on the former recognising the equal rights of Arabs, in particular the right of return of Palestinians. Not only has Israel prevented the return of refugees, it took over by force and occupied in 1967 the rest of historic Palestine. From founding until now we have witnessed an unending catalogue of Israeli atrocities. By these countless atrocities, Israel has forfeited any claim to legality — it is moreover a state that refuses to join the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty or consider giving up its nuclear weapons.

Gaza is both the world's largest open-air prison and the 21st century's undeclared concentration camp. Everybody knows it. The UN knows it. The US president knows it. Tens of thousands of civil servants in countries across the world know it. The siege is a way of sealing the exits, and of slow killing. It is an atrocity on the same level as genocide. Here every man and woman has a moral duty: inaction is complicity and a betrayal of humanity. All legal rights are with those who attempt to end this situation by whatever means.

The Freedom Flotilla is such an attempt: it is a refusal of inhuman suffering. Its symbolism is more powerful than any navy. As such, it remains what it was as it embarked on its journey: a signal of the collapse of the blockade. Where earlier lone vessels tried to reach Gaza, now they go in groups. More will follow. When a thousand ships set sail, what would Israel do?

Israel on trial

Israel lost the battle for international public opinion a long time ago. None can forget the relentless strafing of a captive civilian population in Israel's last war on Gaza. Who can Israel hope to persuade now?

— We condemn the illegal, immoral and inhuman blockade on Gaza, and all who uphold it

— We condemn Israel

— We condemn Israel's brutal attack on peace activists in international waters. We declare that 700 brave souls, from 50 nations, represent something real that Israeli propaganda cannot erase

— We mourn the 19 murdered and express hope and solidarity with the 60 injured. We demand of Israel the release of all activists detained

— We call on all international institutions — including the UN, the EU and human rights agencies and organisations — to declare themselves unequivocally on this latest Israeli atrocity and to work towards ending Israeli impunity

— We demand an international tribunal to judge all Israeli crimes, past and present. We call on the UN General Assembly to request of the International Court of Justice an advisory opinion on the legality of Israel within the United Nations System given its systematic and gross disrespect of international law and moral authority

— We support all efforts by all means to free the people of Gaza from their prison and their suffering, including sanctions and divestment against Israel, a general boycott, and the boycott — by workers federations — of all ships going to and from Israel

— We call upon people everywhere to express their solidarity with the dead and injured, and with Palestinians under occupation, in local expressions of outrage wherever it is deemed useful.

We call on all associations, unions, parliaments, professionals and others to endorse this appeal and its demands. Please distribute and act upon it.

Israeli actions were legal, purposefully provocative and unnecessary flotilla action in wrong, mob committing ADW in wrong:

(Reuters) - Israel has said it will continue a naval blockade of the Gaza Strip despite growing global pressure to lift the siege after a navy raid on a Turkish ferry carrying aid killed nine activists this week.

What is the legality of the blockade and did Israel's intervention breach international law? Below are some questions and answers on the issue:

Yes it can, according to the law of blockade which was derived from customary international law and codified in the 1909 Declaration of London. It was updated in 1994 in a legally recognised document called the "San Remo Manual on International Law Applicable to Armed Conflicts at Sea".

Under some of the key rules, a blockade must be declared and notified to all belligerents and neutral states, access to neutral ports cannot be blocked, and an area can only be blockaded which is under enemy control.

"On the basis that Hamas is the ruling entity of Gaza and Israel is in the midst of an armed struggle against that ruling entity, the blockade is legal," said Philip Roche, partner in the shipping disputes and risk management team with law firm Norton Rose.

Under the U.N. Convention of the Law of the Sea a coastal state has a "territorial sea" of 12 nautical miles from the coast over which it is sovereign. Ships of other states are allowed "innocent passage" through such waters.

There is a further 12 nautical mile zone called the "contiguous zone" over which a state may take action to protect itself or its laws.

"However, strictly beyond the 12 nautical miles limit the seas are the "high seas" or international waters," Roche said.

The Israeli navy said on Monday the Gaza bound flotilla was intercepted 120 km (75 miles) west of Israel. The Turkish captain of one of the vessels told an Istanbul news conference after returning home from Israeli detention they were 68 miles outside Israeli territorial waters.

Under the law of a blockade, intercepting a vessel could apply globally so long as a ship is bound for a "belligerent" territory, legal experts say.

Under international law it can use force when boarding a ship.

"If force is disproportionate it would be a violation of the key tenets of the use of force," said Commander James Kraska, professor of international law at the U.S. Naval War College.

Israeli authorities said marines who boarded the Turkish vessel Mavi Marmara opened fire in self-defence after activists clubbed and stabbed them and snatched some of their weapons.

Legal experts say proportional force does not mean that guns cannot be used by forces when being attacked with knives.

"But there has got to be a relationship between the threat and response," Kraska said.

The use of force may also have other repercussions.

"While the full facts need to emerge from a credible and transparent investigation, from what is known now, it appears that Israel acted within its legal rights," said J. Peter Pham, a strategic adviser to U.S. and European governments.

"However, not every operation that the law permits is necessarily prudent from the strategic point of view."

No, as under international law it was considered a state action.

"Whether what Israel did is right or wrong, it is not an act of piracy. Piracy deals with private conduct particularly with a pecuniary or financial interest," Kraska said.

None so far but the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS), an association which represents 75 percent of the world's merchant fleet, has expressed "deep concern" over the boarding by Israeli forces, arguing that merchant ships have a right to safe passage and freedom of navigation in international waters.

"These fundamental principles of international law must always be upheld by all of the world's nations," the ICS said.

Thank you Mark. Israel boasts as it continues to encroach, refusing to abide by earlier agreements. We stand by and watch. Rather we should (and did in a light sense) condemn them and their actions.

To SteveP, before you throw that big word around you should learn who the semites are. Iwill tell who they are not first. This would include the Ashkenazi(counterfeit jew) that rules Israel. Their roots are from eastern Europe, and they have suckered you. The true semites include the Palestians as a matter of fact. So in reality it is you that is anti-semitic as you support the oppressors of the semitic people. Now get a load of this, you might learn something, and you need to.Web Link

Hey Letsy, what a great idea. Tonight I'll keep it short because I could go on for days, and that would only scratch the service of what you are lacking in knowledge. You really need to pledge a full 10&1/2 minutes allright? Web Link

OK Letsy, another one. This is what you said"Read marks other postings. mark believe Americans are dumb people and mark believes in crackpot 9-11 conspiracy theories.

Isn't that true mark? Enlighten the folks with your views on those issues too."

You want enlightenment, I have more than you can handle, lessen of course you seek the truth. After watching this next one, enlighten me on anything whatsoever, about this video that is not true and explain how WTC #7 collapsed like it did, and yet WTC #3,#4,#5,#6 did not collapse, even though they were all closer to WTC#1 and #2 and suffered more damage from #1 and #2 than WTC #7. By the way, Silverstein is a Zionst and there is much more to his involvement in this than shown on this video.

Web Link

Did you know that WTC Building #7 is never mentioned in the 9-11 Commission Report at all, period. Dont you find that rather odd?

How about the Enron case and other wall street fraud cases being lost forever? Does that sound like an inside job to you?

Being that so much has happened in the world do to 9-11, I think you would agree that we look into this some more, especially with the questions that the 2 videos beg answers for. We need to expand on this here in this thread. We are searching for the truth aren't we?

Letsy, did you watch the videos? Your reply suggests that you did not or that your reply is dishonest.

If you choose to remain ignorant on this issue Letsy, you do a disservice to this country, your neighbors and your community. You also help make it possible for all the dead and/or injured in the Middle East, since 9-11 is the reason used for all the killing. American/Israeli Imperialism.

Both of the previous videos are good evidence and provide the truth. Maybe you are one of the Zionsist's useful idiots. Here to promote their propaganda. Your reply suggest that may be the case.

Regarding this next video, why dont you come up with something better that a reply out of a Cracker Jack box. Sticking to the "smoking gun", WTC Building 7.Web Link

Got to to see this one too.Web Link

Actually my reply shows I can think for myself.

So you've told us your conspiracy theories on 9-11.

So how do you feel about Radical Islam? AL-Qaeda? The Taliban? Hamas?

Enlighten us with those views. This should be interesting too.

Letsy, Why dont you enlighten us with your thoughts about 9-11? Have you done any research at all beyond what you can get from the lame stream media?Lets here your views on the last videos that I linked to.

Giuliani was looked to as a "9-11 hero" by many and he tried to convert that "support" into the presidency. Remember, he led the national polls in the Republican presidential race for months. I'm sure that you are not aware of this Web Link regarding him. Did you support him too?

By the way, here is some info regarding the 23rd floor of WTC Building #7, the same one that Barry Jennings reported to on 9-11 which almost cost him his life(previous post).

The Secrecy-Shrouded Building Holding Giuliani's Command Center

Building 7 was the dark flat-topped 47-story skyscraper immediately north of the World Trade Center super-block, across Vesey Street. Its designation as 7 World Trade Center is somewhat misleading: whereas WTC 1 through 6 surrounded the WTC plaza and were completed in the 1970s, Building 7 was 300 feet from the plaza and its construction did not begun until 1985. 1 It was of an entirely different architectural style than the other six buildings. It was completely destroyed late in the afternoon on September 11th.

Building 7 was privately owned from the beginning, in contrast to the other six buildings, which were publicly owned until the summer of 2001. Building 7 was formerly the headquarters of the junk-bond firm Drexel Burnham Lambert, which contributed to the savings and loans collapse and $500 billion bailout of the latter 1980s.

Emergency Command Center

The 23rd floor of Building 7 had received 15 million dollars' worth of renovations to create an emergency command center for then-Mayor Rudolf Giuliani. The features of the command center include:

Bullet- and bomb-resistant windows
An independent, secure air and water supply
The ability to withstand winds of 200 mph

Building #7 is one of the smoking guns that help prove 9-11 was an inside job. Info about this needs to be made available to everyone, instead of hidden from view by the media and Washington politicians. Is that why you refuse to address it and try and change the subject? Or is it that you dont want to know the truth about 9-11. For some, the truth would be to much to handle mentally, are you one of those? Answer this, does the collapse of building #7 look like a controlled demolition to you?Web Link

Well now, Letsy says "Actually my reply shows I can think for myself."

That reply was "Keep it up mark. You're doing great. :)

I think you left out the part of how the gecko from GEICO was involved."

I can see the intelligence invovled there. And what I have "told you" are not "conspiracy theories". The Official "9-11 Commission Report" is at best a conspiracy theory, but is really a fraud and crime perpetrated on all Americans and the rest of the world. This is a fact. All it takes for the people to believe this fraud is a dumbed down and lazy people to exist. Do you intend on remaining that way, or are you prepared to STEP UP and investigate the issue like you should have done years ago?

I have spent more time investigating this issue than you can imagine. I can save someone a lot of time looking for facts, if they asked for help. This is just my opinion though, but I believe that with just the possibility that 9-11 as an inside job, that every Amaerican has a duty to make an effort to find out if there is any truth to that. That is what I did and I now know for a fact that it was an inside job. The evidence that proves that is clear and convincing beyond a reasonable doubt.

I also know that a young man died in Iraq because of 9-11. At times, I took that young man in, when he was a young boy, like he was one of my own. His death hurt me alot, and the fact that I already knew that 9-11 was an inside job, and was why he died made me angry. It still hurts, and I will never lose sight of what happened on 9-11 and the reasons why it did. 9-11 is what woke me up, what are you waiting for?
