Romney endorses Harmer in GOP contest to replace McNerney

Original post made on Apr 2, 2010

Former Governor and 2008 GOP Presidential candidate Mitt Romney has announced his endorsement of Republican Businessman David Harmer in California's highly targeted 11th Congressional District, which is now represented by Congressman Jerry McNerney (D-Pleasanton).

I feel it is important that our Local community elect someone that can
bring a common sense approach to Washington.

Pelosi does not represent the people. Pelosi doe not listen to the voters of California

David Harmer will add a balanced thinking and will listen to the people of our Community.

Nancy Pelosi represents her district that includes large chunks of San Francisco, not the state of California as a whole. I imagine she represents her constituents very well.

McNerney is a moderate. It sounds like this guy Harmer is a pretty strict conservative. But name is destiny. I think he'd do more Harm than good. If the amount you pay in taxes is your only issue, then it looks like he's your man. If you are interested in the sorry state this state and nation are in, then you look for someone with a more nuanced and forward-looking perspective. McNerney has served this district well, so far.

The irony is inescapable. That Romney would support him because he would repeal the new health care reform is astounding, since so many of its aspects come from Romney's own approved plan in Massachusetts.

I also feel it's important that our local community elect someone that can bring a common sense approach to Washington. Rep. Nancy Pelosi represents folks like myself who voted for a change in Washington. Rep.Jerry McNerney has been a much better congressman in his few years there than his unethical predecessor Richard Pombo ever was. I don't want to see a repeat of the 8 disastrous Bush years ever again in my lifetime. When he took office in 2000, this country had a "Surplus". Two wars, the dismantling of Environmental and Banking regulations and most disparaging of all, the polarization of extremists on both sides of the aisle has left this country in shambles. As a patriotic and compassionate capitalist, I am encouraged that this President has taken on the hard tasks, trying to turn this economy around and head it in the direction we need to go.

"A career politician in search of a place to serve." These were David Harmer's words describing Garamendi during the 2009 10th District Congressional seat runoff - an accusation made because Garamendi didn't live in the 10th district.

It's certainly a phrase that appropriately applies to David Harmer.

In 1996 David Harmer ran for Congress in Utah's 2nd District - unsuccessfully. In 2009 he lost the election to Garamendi in the 10th District. Now he's running against McNerney in the 11th - even though he doesn't live in the 11th District.

The gerrymandering of our District is bad enough. We certainly don't need to make it worse with Congressional "representation" by someone who doesn't even live in our District . . . in other words, "a career politician in search of a place to serve."

McNerney a Moderate??? !!! You call a voting record of 98% consistent with Pelosi a MODERATE???

Get this socialist (which is being generous to him) out of here. Better yet, give him a one-way ticket to the country where he benchmarks his goals for America... that is North Korea!!!

In North Korea...there is democrat "fairness" everywhere (except with bureaucrats)...everyone gets the same rationing if you play by their rules. That's the democrats definition of "fairness" ... fairness of output.

I'm really looking forward to a low down dirty laundry election! I love it when political couples divorce or separate because of election stress; some of the candidates are outed as drunks or gay + MORE!!!

Scandals can really liven up the scene and lead to heated numbers on TV. I was outdone when I read about the guv of S.Carolina and his mistress and also by the Larry Craig tappy tappy toe incident in a TOILET no less!

It's already getting heated up...it's gonna be a bumpy ride mes petites...go go go!!!

call me Cholo...reporting for duty!

It is imperative that we come up with a candidate that can beat Pelosi's pimp, McNerney. My Gawd, he is just as big a doofus as Joe Biden.

Teabaggers said that Americans did not want the Health Care Bill ... yet their representatives voted for it ... that means ... according to our system of government (the one teabaggers are trying to represent) ... that the representatives actually DID speak for the people ... IF & WHEN politicians do NOT represent the people THEN VOTE THEM OUT. I think what teabaggers are saying is that the whole system is not bending to individual interests ... hummmmm! Sounds like a temper tantrum ... VOTE FOR A CHANGE YOU CAN BELIEVE IN ... don't throw temper tantrums like the 60's immature hippies did, stop lying, stop inventing boogie-men and please grow up!!!

You must be in April Fools mode. McNerney a "moderate" ???

With a voting record of 98% consistent with Pelosi and you call McNerney a "moderate" ???

He campaigned as a moderate and has operated as one of the most radical left Congressman we have. The joke has been on those like you who believed he would be a moderate.

"Romney endorses Harmer in GOP contest to replace McNerney"

WOW!! Stop the presses! One Mormon hack (Romney) supports another Mormon hack (Harmer). Amazing!

Too bad Harmer can't take his self-righteous act back to Utah.

Nelsons comment is from a typical "oh so tolerant" democrat. It is so interesting to me once I became a US citizen to learn that it is the democrats who are the absolute biggotted party of all. They are such hypocrits. I despise democrats as they are no different than communists.

Harmer seems like a typical conservative robot. Not surprisingly, he has this single-minded obsession that simply lowering taxes will solve all our problems. No need to focus on the real problems, just mention "low taxes" 5,456,984 times as if that is the solution to all the complex issues that face our country. Let's just ignore now Prop 13 and the anti-tax movement have ruined our state because we don't want to get in the way of instant gratification, something for nothing, and low taxes!

Here is the nutroots background on how they got the progressive Jerry McNerney in over Rahm Emmanuel and the DCCC's preferred candidate.
Web Link

Jerry McNerney votes with Pelosi's preferred position over 95% of the time, voted against the Stupak amendment to HCR (pro-abortion) and then portrays himself a pretend moderate in an election year.

The voters see through it. Jerry McNerney pretended to be waiting to make a decision on the health care reform bill, then sent an email immediately after his vote to support to his supporters, saying:

"I've stood strong since we first started working on health care reform. Last summer, I voted in committee for real reform and again in November of last year. I've stood up for real reform since the start."
There was never a question that McNerney was a yes vote for ObamaCare, and you can see in the statement above that he fully supports "real reform", ie single-payer health care.

So the voters can decide if they favor a complete government takeover, the progressives next step in health care reform. If the poll last week showing 41% of Democrats questioned do not want ObamaCare is accurate, Jerry McNutroot is going to have a tough time getting re-elected.

I guess Harmer can fool the GOPers but in November he is going to get a NO THANK YOU from Pleasanton and the whole District 11. Jerry McNerney is a fantastic Congressman and we will send him back to Washington to keep doing a great job.

I'm looking forward to watching McNerney pack up his socialist bags and crawl back to the private sector that he helped destroy.

They cut up the districts to keep control for the liberals. Jerry McNerney brings home a lot of pork to keep himself in Congress. Our state is broke and our country is getting there. The government continues to grow while the private sector shrinks. And who pays for the govenment; the private sector. How do we think this can continue. To all the liberals out there is this how you run your households? Remember when you look to someone else for a handout they have the final say and control over your lives. Health care, environment, government takeovers. Where will it stop, don't you see what is happening?
