America is Not a Democracy

Original post made by Pleasanton Mom, Birdland, on Apr 1, 2010

Very good video explaning why America is not a Democracy. Our Founding Fathers knew better, they set up the only form of government that generates Freedom - a Republic.

Should be required viewing by all who post political comments on this board. Also, this should be required in American schools and colleges. We are very quickly moving from a Republic to an Oligarchy...where we will soon experience Anarchy because of the tyranny from the Oligarchs.

"Iron Law of Oligarchy" Web Link

"It states that all forms of organization, regardless of how democratic or autocratic they may be at the start, will eventually and inevitably develop into oligarchies. The reasons for this are the technical indispensability of leadership, the tendency of the leaders to organize themselves and to consolidate their interests; the gratitude of the led towards the leaders, and the general immobility and passivity of the masses."

A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largess from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship.

The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been 200 years. These nations have progressed through this sequence:

1. From bondage to spiritual faith.
2. From spiritual faith to great courage.
3. From courage to liberty.
4. From liberty to abundance.
5. From abundance to selfishness.
6. From selfishness to complacency.
7. From complacency to apathy.
8. From apathy to dependency.
9. From dependency back again into bondage.

We are at #8 heading toward #9 if we cannot take back our country in November. This means that NO DEMOCRATS can be elected. In fact, the old Democrat Party no longer exists.

Conservatism is the only way to save our Republic.

Very good explanation of each step in the cycle here:

Pleasanton Mom,

You're quite the comedian posting this video. I can guess that you posted it because it shows the left as the bad guys (i.e., facism, nazism, communism) and the right as the good guys. Such a simplified view of political theory leads to your uninformed claims that conservatism will rescue the Republic. Unfortunately the right in this country is quite socially authoritarian and would gladly use the power of government to take away the rights of people to live the way they wanted just as the left would use the power of government to create overbearing regulation of the economy.

Did you know that Communism actually is the extreme right? It strives towards a society without government through tyranny of the proletariat, the belief being that once class distinction is abolished, there is no need for government. I guess that makes Communism a right wing philosophy according to this video! Thanks for validating that!

Oligarchy is already here and it began at the very beginning with suffrage. While individuals like Pleasanton Mom keep their political passions focused upon the left vs. the right, the oligarchs are consolidating their hold on power. Does Pleasanton Mom honestly believe that those in power care about the political spectrum as anything more than a tool by which to remain in power? Please re-read Orwell's 1984.

I suggest you read this by Madison to understand the suffrage problem: Web Link

Stacey,
Occasionally when I read your posts, you exhibit some logic. However, you COMPLETELY DISCREDITED yourself when you stated above that Communism is the extreme right. Unbelieveable! You must have been so brainwashed by government schools. Are you saying that Mao, the current President of China, the North Korean premier, Fidel and others are on the RIGHT??? Oh my God! Where does one begin to correct your mindset? I am beginning to think you are a very very lost cause.

Ok...try this...please do some research and post for the readers the plancks of the Communist Manifesto...and tell the readers here how these relate to the extreme right.

Let me provide you with one frame of reference... (yes, I know the source is biased right...but factor that in as I am sure you will.)

Here is one place to start..."Bingo, Call it Communism" >>> Web Link

"In fact, the old Democrat Party no longer exists"

Uh..do you live in a parallel universe or something? Because in this one, the Dems own the House, the Senate, the White House, the majority of voters...

Juan,

Haha, but no. I don't believe that Communism is on the right. My point is that if I were to subscribe to the simplified view of what is right and what is left as presented in the video posted by Pleasanton Mom, then Communism should be on the right end of the spectrum. I didn't learn any of that in government schools. I learned it by reading the Communist Manifesto. You can't understand a philosophy you don't agree with if you always define that philosophy by yourself instead of reading the authors of that philosophy.

"Anarchists and Marxists both agree on the long-term desirability of a stateless society."

Lenin believed that it was only through the imposition of a tyranny of the proletariat that society would become classless and therefore stateless. The philosophy believes that the state exists solely to divide society into classes.

So if you remove classes, you remove the state.

But please pay attention to the more important point I was trying to make, which is that the average citizen becomes distracted from solving real issues when focusing upon the left vs. the right. Oligarchs use it as a tool to divide the populace and retain power.

Stacey likes to use them big important sounding words to try to make the rest of us Patriotic God lovin Americans think she is smarter than us. We are not fooled by any of it. We know that all Libruls are diseased, Ann Coulter told us so in her latest book. I didn't read the book, but saw Ann on Fox and Friends and she said all Libruls have a mental illness. Stacey proves her point by trying to say Communism is the same as conservatism.

I wonder would Stacey actually have a life if not for reading and constantly espousing opinions on an online newspaper website?

Have to agree with you there, Stacey. While we worry about left vs right and attack citizens who protest big government as being racists, we all continue to be screwed by the elitists in Washington.

Uh...Stacey, actually it's Fascism that would occupy the extreme right wing of the political spectrum.

Besides modern communism/socialism/etc. doesn't try as much to remove the classes themselves but to remove their foundations such as religion & God, our national icons (flag, historical political figures, aspects of nationalism)individual rights (gun ownership, finances, insurance)& replace them with elements controlled by THE STATE.

Hmmmmm, kinda sounds familiar don't it?

Nosy,

I don't think you fully understood what I wrote above. I clarified more in the other thread after Juan accidentally posted a reply to it.

Fascism occupies the extreme position of government control over the lives of private citizens. It never pretends to strive for a stateless society, as Communism does _in theory_. Communism in practice, as shown by history, has ended up as an Authoritarian Socialism (especially after Stalin took power in the USSR).

But I would argue that that result isn't because of the tenants of Communism itself, but because Communism is an -ism, an ideology with a Utopian and naive vision of human society. It doesn't matter if the political philosophy is on the left or the right. Whenever an ideology requires an individual to behave a certain way in order to conform to the ideal, the road to authoritarianism is paved.

I'm glad to see that finally there are a lot of people complaining about "Stacey". Whoever this person is must not have a life or has a very poor self image. He/She spends way too much time pontificating on the forums, probably because its the only way he/she has of getting attention.

Pleasanton Mom,

You start this thread that America is not a democracy as if this should be news to people. Didn't you go to school? Were you not taught that we're a democratic republic? You seem to have some fundamental gaps in your knowledge, which would explain why so many of your claims are so off-base.

Do yourself a favor: do some independent brushing up on your civics instead of being a parrot repeating Beck and the American Thinker. Clearly you are passionate about your country--wouldn't it be great if you were informed as well as passionate?
