His $400 per month car allowance will be tacked onto his retirement and maybe other perks that are not reported in the article. Can't he use a city car for business? They have a ton of them. Management takes care of their own and cost PERS the most. $195,000 and a cell phone and car allowance--sounds like the retired San Ramon Fire Chief. Base salary of $192,000 but then another $80,000 tacked on when he retired due to little perks--disgusting but that is your City Council that some voted into power. What was his Salary and perks in SLO. I could see maybe a 5-10% over what he made there. He would then have to earn his way to a big pay day. Wow!

Quite a welcome here from the readers of the Pleasanton Weekly. What a warm welcome to Pleasanton, a community that I hope will, eventually, respect individual difference. All deserve far better treatment than I see here. I for one hope that Jonathan will realize that many Pleasanton residents are far more welcoming and open.

"Joining Lowell for last night's ceremony and a reception that followed were his parents Marie and Harry Lowell of Walnut Creek, his partner Peter DeMarais, and his mother-in-law Mary DeMarais."

einstein is a registered user.

I suspect he will do a fine job for us and will work hard to restore some of our previous luster. Additionally, he seems pretty young and engaged about working here so hopefully he will be valuable and be here for a long time.

Several of the recent posts were erased due to "disrespectful or offensive language". I read all of them and did not see anything in them that could have qualified as "offensive". One post merely commented about other posts having been removed. If Pleasanton Weekly wants to censor comments, then they should label the forum as a "moderated" one and not give the impression that is is otherwise.

I didn't read the comments so I have no idea if the comments by other posters were indeed offensive. However, somebody has decided that they were and they were removed. I have no problem with deleting posts that are perceived as inappropriate.

The plea that others read the last paragraph is of no interest to me.

Again, I welcome the Lowell & DeMarais FAMILY to Pleasanton. VIVA!

It's time for everybody to moveon.com!

Well, I disagree with the previous post. Plenty of comments were erased, some of which simply stated that Pleasanton Weekly seemed to be erasing things for reasons other than what they stated. My point is that if Pleasanton Weekly wants to censor people, then they should simply state that the forum is moderated. They shouldn't lead us to believe otherwise.

You are already aware that comments are sometimes deleted because they have been deemed inappropriate. It seems to me that you have been very diligent about trying to censor others with whom you were annoyed. Such mean spirited and ill thought out considerations are always driven by a reckless disregard for the free speech of others. Dare I say that what goes around comes around?

Mes petites...Mr. Lowell & his partner Mr. DeMarais are a FAMILY. Like it or not, you must live in a world characterized by diversity. Throughout the USA, you will find happy couples who contribute to making America the great country that it is. Tp pretend that your concern is censorship is hideous. The issue is visibility. It's unfortunate that your limitations do not allow you to embrace the world as it is. How sad.

I can't imagine a more delightful FAMILY than that of Mr. Lowell and his partner, Mr. DeMarais. VIVA LA FAMILIA! VIVA!

You have not been misled by anybody and I dare say that if anything, you are the one who is trying to mislead others into believing that you are concerned with free speech. NOT!

so so sad...so so sad...

Welcome Mr. Lowell! Anyhow...this is a good town. Actions will speak for themselves. Good luck! Merry Christmas
Cholo... always improving the condition of mankind. Consider starting your comments with Ladies and Gentlemen. Your speeches are to that point these days.

Pretty is as pretty does! You have engaged in a nasty little exercise of trying to get some posts blocked so that they don't appear on the screen. Why? Because they annoy you. Yup...that's you...BUSTED...AMERICAS DON'T ASK DON'T TELL POSTER GIRL!

I stand by my statement: the issue that is eating you up is about VISIBILITY. You see when some folks choose to be 'Out", you can't define their reality. They have the control and they define their lives on their terms. Not yours. You are one of this blogs thought police. Well, you got out-slicked this time! Not only has the city hired a qualified attorney but there is more to him that threatens you and a few others in this town and I don't mean maybe!

Incidentally, if you want to buy some MEAT ON THE HOOF, let me recommend that you eat the entrails, all the hair, drink the blood and chew the fat! It may not be enough meat but it's a start.

QWERTY IS OVER....BUSTED! BUSTED! BUSTED! begone...

Cholo, again you are wrong. The only people deleting comments are the people at Pleasanton Weekly. They alone make the decision on what the keep and what to delete. It is clear that you haven't actually read what I said previously. Your response has nothing to do with what myself and others have commented on. If you would like a pulpit for expressing your beliefs which have nothing to do with this thread then start another one for that express purpose.
