Ban posts from Cholo

Original post made by NoMoCholo on Nov 25, 2009

Please, please, please. PW- Do yourselves and your readers a favor and ban Cholo from posting (if you are capable of doing that).
Much like the failed Prattle and Tattle posts, Cholo's post are a blight on an otherwise quality publication/site.
If you need help tracking down his IP address, I'd be glad to assist.
Thanks

nomocholo
Doesn't seem possible that PW can ban cholo's posts.
Seems like the best choice is to ignore his posts or at least the ones that are obnoxious. Sometimes he or someone using the same name, posts interesting comments.
I have noticed that the PW often removes his posts.

I find comments from Cholo annoying, but I believe in freedom of speech, and Cholo has as much right as any of us to post his opinions. You can choose to skip his comments and not read them.

Three words: FREEDOM OF SPEECH ... Think about it ... does anyone really want to start a censorship process on what is "not good posting"??? It's just a question.

Read the Bill of Rights. The Pleasanton Weekly is protected by the First Amendment, not bound by it.
The Weekly is Free to ban Cholo, or publish Cholo, it is 100% their choice. And should they choose to ban Cholo, they would not be denying him his First Amendment Rights.
Cholo is always free to print his own newspaper or start his own Cholo Weekly website...

If you don't like him, don't read him. Prattle and Tattle was different, the PW sponsored him and they finally realized what a liability he was so they silenced him on the sponsored thread. He can still post as an ordinary citizen, like the rest of us.
Without a little conflict this would be just another yuppie town filled with soccer mommies getting their nails done and yapping on their cell phone while driving. Wait, that IS what this town has become . . . .

I'm beginning to think the world needs a Cholo ... we need someone to bristle our brains ... tickle our sensibilities ... just think if he were King with autocratic rule ... then again think if the people who oppose Cholo were King with autocratic rule ... no ... love him or leave him ... at least we can move along without harm. thank you Pleasanton Weekly for your efforts at putting up with all of us on the Square.

What would be nice is an "ignore" feature that would allow individuals to prevent certain user's posts from appearing on their screen. This feature is common on many internet forums and is great for dealing with people like Cholo. While we can all choose to read his/her posts (or not), sometimes this person posts so often in a particular thread that it is difficult to read everything else in peace.

Qwerty ... good idea! Bleep out the noise!!! There has to be a technology that allows for expression and filtering at the same time.

Qwerty's comment intrigued me ... I did a search and found a site that actually has a filter for comments ... the technology exists.

Seems to me the poster of this string should practice tolerance and acceptance instead of demanding censorship. Like others have said, if you don't like a particular person's posts then don't read them...

Well, without knowing it folks...you gave Cholo what he/she wanted.

As much as I usually disagree with most of Cholo's comments, no one should be banned from saying what they want to say. NoMoCholo - why don't you just move to another country that doesn't have freedom of speech?

NoMoCholo was probably Posted by Cholo just to get your goat on Black Friday. This whole Blog thing seems so many times to be full of sarcasm, and so much of the time We are all ignorant and need to discover the Truth. Perhaps Cholo will reinvent them-self as Chola. How do you know which Cholo to ban? Continue censoring our remarks as in the past (when they cross the line according to PW editors), but don't abridge our rights as citizens to speak and write our minds. The diversity of opinion and thought is always stimulating and sometimes even entertaining.

You poor people who can't stand Cholo's postings. It must be hard to live your lives with such a thorn in your sides. Why not just make this Cholo's blog and you can all go and blog together in the blogasphere and just let the bloggers who you like into your little, little, little world.

Not to beat a dead horse to death: But posting on this site is a priveledge granted to us by the Pleasanton Weekly, and the only "rights" protected under the First Amendment belong to the Weekly and not the bloggers...

To the last couple of people who posted here:
All the more reason to have an "ignore" feature, where people can pick and choose who to listen to and who to ignore. It's not that difficult to do with the right software.

Speaking of censorship. I went to the borders in SF and was told they did not nor would they carry Sarah Palin's book going rogue. I came home to Pleasanton and went to Borders where I bought the last copy and was told by the lady working there that they had sold out the previous 4 shipments. People seem so threatened by her. I read Obama's book as well so I do not see the point.

We are all aware of your many different handles.
I am aware of at least eight of them.

It is utterly deceitful of you to provide false information to someone that is seeking information to help with their location to this community.

Pleasanton has a top notch police force, the county fair every year, plus numerous other amenities. Your trashing this community speaks volumes to your sadistic demeanor.

You live in Livermore, why don't you trash that area where you live?

It's a head-shake that the plate of scrambled eggs, who lowers the quality of virtually every post he contributes to, would be advocating censorship of an other.

This is another instance consistent with the mentally unstable one projecting his mental illness onto others. Rather than deal with his own illness (and self-loathing), he projects it onto liberals.

He is without doubt the dumbest contributor on these sites, his contributions demanding time and again that conversations be lowered to deal with his petulant, churlish, little boy's illogic. Yet, unable to admit his own lack of education and cognitive deficiencies, he takes that which he hates in himself and attempts via projection to graft them onto Cholo. This is one very sad individual.

Cholo, I trust you'll find this pathetic effort to be as amusing as I do.

Does this definition fit "our" CHOLO?

cholo
A cholo is term implying a Hispanic male that typically dresses in chinos (khahki pants), a wifebeater sleeveless teeshirt or a flannel shirt with only the top buttoned, a hairnet, or with a bandana around the forehead, usually halfway down over the eyes. Cholos often have black ink tattoos, commonly involving Catholic imagery, or calligraphy messages or family names.

Wow....glad I don't live there anymore. I grew up there, and lived off and on in Ptown for some 40 years. I can say I never thought this town would turn into a judgmental, hypocritical, exclusionist society that it appears to have become. Do you people really have that much time on your hands that you care about what ANYONE else says? Are you really all that bored with your life that you will take it to the lengths of POSTING about it on a blog? THAT is pathetic. Not Cholo. All of you who can't seem to live your life without whining about something so stupid.

Some of us that post blogs to this site provide our name and neighborhood, we write accordingly to the terms of use as defined by Pleasanton weekly.

Those same terms of use apply to everyone that blogs or writes commentary on this site.

Cholo is a defined Troll, there is no other way to slice it. Cholo is the most deleted Troll in the history of this site.

The terms of use that Cholo violates:

1. You agree to be respectful of others, be truthful and be solely responsible for all posting you make.

2. You agree not to use any profanity, nor post any information that is hateful, libelous or obscene, or that is threatening, abusive or offensive to any individual, group or class of person.

3. You agree not to post comments under multiple names, postings within a single topic from the same IP address made under different names will be deleted.

Cholo posts anonymously, he is not registered, therefore not responsible.
Cholo posts are abusive, offensive and sometimes threatening.
Cholo posts with eight or more names from the same IP address, many times on the same topic Cholo will use three or more names.

Cholo is deleted most of the time for being abusive and offensive.

While Cholo obviously enjoys winding people up, I don't actually think s/he is a mere troll. A number of his?her comments make valid points, albeit in an often-unconventional way.

And while I hesitate to say it, lest my drawing attention to it should spoil the kindness shown (or heap coals of Cholo fire upon my head!).... I have noticed that Cholo almost always posts a congratulatory comment in response to reports of school students' achievements, however minor they might be. Indeed, Cholo is sometimes the only person here who bothers to praise the youngsters. :-(

At the risk of joining the ranks of the loathed, I am also one who hopes the PW does NOT censor Cholo. In my opinion, the people who make us feel uncomfortable are frequently also those who shake us out of undesirable complacency and make us think. And hidden amidst all Cholo's exaggerated counter-comments and resting of his/her case, it seems to me that there is not a little food for thought!

Posted by Mr. Slippers, a resident of Ruby Hill

So, Michael Austin, you identify yourself as a blogger, but what "blog" do you post? And are you a registered member here? And have you never posted using a variety of names? Nothing phony here at all, right?

And speaking of phony, how in the world do you know that Cholo uses 7 different names all from the same IP? Do you have special access to information about posters? Where have you gotten this information from? Is the PW supplying you with info about posters?

It's amazing that someone can get so wrapped up in Cholo's little ditties but remain quiet about the numerous racist screeds on this site and other sites as well. (Removed by Pleasanton Weekly staff.)

I've never seen a post by Cholo that is abusive. He is no doubt frequently thought to be offensive to the racists who post regularly on the PW forum. Occasionally, some sickos will post something using Cholo's name. All in all, Cholo's posts tend to by playful and at times playfully poke fun at the racists here who post their gutter ideas and then get bent out of shape when Cholo's well-placed remarks deflate them.

Finally, Michael, you might consider posting on Tom Cushing's blogs. You and he seem to share very similar ways of thinking. Very similar, indeed.

I'd like to thank Cholo for his efforts to reveal the Town Square section of the PW, with its anonymous comments and zero accountability, as the joke it has become. Most of it, including his/her postings as well as my own, should be disregarded as the ranting of voiceless cowards. Tee hee!

Slippers, the hypocrite--that should be your PW 'registered' name. Tee-hee. He advocates for free speech (for himself and cholo's meaningless rants) and appoints himself as the master-race-baiter, the arbiter of when to play the race card, and self-appointed web master. Thankfully, you stopped short of trying to ban Mr.. Austin's posts, for fear of being recognized as the poster boy for leftists, where only their speech is permitted.
Your kind are better suited posting of the Daily Kos(tic) and Huffpo. Stick with those dark corners, mmm k.
