Just a taste of what is to come

Original post made by A Worried Library User on Nov 1, 2009

I tried to visit the library today a little after 3PM to return a DVD that was due. The parking lot was filled to bursting with horses, trailers and participants from the Veteran's Day parade. After finally finding a parking spot, I made it into the library where an announcement was being made that a lecture scheduled for today was being delayed because patrons couldn't get to the library on time.

This gave me a taste of what is going to happen when the city's ice skating rink comes to town in November and one entire side of our parking lot will be frozen over. And where will those who come to skate park? Probably on the other side of our parking lot. The signs do no good as evidenced during the County Fair when fair goers ignore the signs and park in the library lot.

I don't know if the participants today were given permission to park there but it was a mess.

i hope that Library patrons will be given priority and yes this afternoon was crazy busy but isn't that wonderful that our library is being used!

A lively downtown is a healthy downtown. Bring your business, friends and family.

I don't think the OP said that a lively downtown isn't a healthy downtown. I think her/his opinion is that there could have been a better place to put the ice rink than in the library parking lot. I have to agree that when people park in the lot and go to events in downtown it is quite inconvenient for library patrons.
