"Operation Coffee Cup was a campaign conducted by the American Medical Association (AMA) during the late 1950s and early 1960s in opposition to the Democrats' ***plans to extend Social Security to include health insurance for the elderly, later known as Medicare.*** As part of the plan, doctors' wives would organize coffee meetings in an attempt to convince acquaintances to write letters to Congress opposing the program. The operation received support from Ronald Reagan, who in 1961 produced the LP record Ronald Reagan Speaks Out Against Socialized Medicine for the AMA, outlining arguments against what he called "socialized medicine".

***emphasis mine***

Here's an even more relevant piece of work by Reagan that covers both animal rights AND childcare issues. Important information for us all to heed...

RE: "Nationalized Health Care Protest Thursday October 15th 2009"
Since we're not nationalizing healthcare, this is sort of a wasted effort, don't ya think?

RE: "Join thousands who will turn out for this event." Since the last tea party event drew a crowd of dozens, i wouldn't worry about getting there early to beat the traffic...

Well maybe if we had socialized education then people who really want to help the human race and not just focused on money would be able to go to medical school. The AMA is doctors. Doctors governing Doctors. Reagan was against unions and anything else that gave the working man any power. The jeep and the ranch didn't fool everyone. Remember one of his best friends was a chimpanzee. The wall coming down only meant a larger market of consumers. Take the wall from Germany and put it around the neighborhood. Instead of keeping people in it keeps them out. Isn't that whats its all about? Gonzo had socialized medicine I think.

What? A personal attack on a poster with a possibly slightly progressive viewpoint? I can't BELIEVE it!?!

Reagan was the only decent president we have had since Truman and Rosevelt. Nixon a crook, Ford a fill in, Carter a complete joke and a disaster, Bush 1 no good, Clinton ineffective and immoral, Bush 2 ridiculous, and now Obama is going to be worse than the others combined........until the revolt starts anyway.

I am a proud and unapologetic conservative and wonder why liberals find it offensive to be referred to as liberals. Why the deceptive term "progressive"? What are "progressing" toward if not big government, more control over citizens' lives, less freedom for everyone except congresspeople, more Statism, reduction of private property, reduction of free enterprise, reduction in energy independence, more taxes and on and on...

And THIS is what democrats call "progressive" ?!

Progressive sounds much more innocent than say nazi, or socialist, or marist, or hate monger so they go with progressive.

Anyone who advocates for free markets is really a liberal in the classic liberalism sense. Why aren't the conservatives using that label?
