"A 6-Month Evaluation of Obama's Presidency"

Original post made by Carol, Amberwood/Wood Meadows, on Sep 16, 2009

The following "performance evaluation" I wholeheartedly agree with, although I cannot verify the author. For those who object to the following, I encourage you to debate the contents vs. the source.

so one of bob olster's friends wrote this? Well then, that has the air of authority, doesn't it. I'm a friend of Bill Gates and I think obama is the greatest thing since sliced bread. So there. All these paranoid rants about communism and made up "facts" should serve us all well. Feel free to head back to your bomb shelter now and continue stockpiling that non-flouridated water...

Wow! That reads so objectively Carol! Looks like cut and paste from Faux News "We repeat it, stupid people believe it!"

Contents versus source means: "Hate Obama the way I do, and obviously this author does."

"He and Michelle have turned out to be quintessential Ivy League "Oppression Studies majors" with (carefully concealed) "attitudes." Obama seems, above all, to be a Community Organizer with shakedown credentials and extraordinary speaking ability."

Read: Pimp

Didn't have to read much further than this. We're dealing with a racist here.

Again it appears that everything written here is factual and hard to refute but then again I would expect that the left or Obama supporters will lash out angrily without disputing the above information.

"Factual?" It's subjective ranting, much of it untrue, irrelevant, or both.

Quantity doesn't equal quality, Carol.

I don't think it is a matter of whether or not the items posted above need to be disputed. The article is written in from a heavily biased viewpoint and makes a lot of random claims (for example, "Use deception –"…in war the end justifies almost any means." - is that supposed to be Obama or Bush?), so it simply doesn't spark meaningful discussion. From the article, I can take that the author thinks 31 is too young to take on a certain level of responsibility, or that he doesn't think Sonia Sotomayor is competent, etc. These are opinions, not a fact-based review of the administration's actions thus far. Most of the other relevant items could be debated (banking/auto bailouts) in terms of whether or not they were effective, but this article doesn't frame them that way.
Cabinet appointees are always a topic of heavy debate, as they should be - when you look at Bush's big oil cabinet appointees and then the war in Iraq, it is something to think about. And let me make a preemptive comment about mentioning Bush, since I know we are not supposed to talk about him anymore - I'm just using him as an example, since he is the most recent President. I would never bring up how cut taxes during wartime and turned a surplus into a deficit.
Neither the content nor the source of the article are particularly impressive. It is always good to discuss the direction our leadership is taking us, but this article is just a list of accusations and doesn't set the stage for honest debate.

I REALLY resent this slander towards the President Of The United States Of America and it is WAY beyond me why the WEEKLY would let this type of copy and paste article remain on the forum.

Annon,

Well I guess PW allows it because it is a right we still have in terms of free speech. We should be able to say anything we want and express ourselves and it is very unfortunate that you feel it should be suppressed.

Bob,

If the Weekly were not removing many posts that the President finds offensive to HER, I would not be bringing this up with such conviction.

The paper has a major double standard!

Just some context:

"One of Bob Oster's CEO friends wrote this. Bob respects him highly. "
== Of course, CEOs and CFOs do tend to watch each others' backs, er, "respect each other highly".

"(For those on this list who don't know Bob: he was CFO of Oracle when it went public"
== received unimaginable-to-ordinary-folks $$$$$ in stock options, at expense of the small investors

, also CFO of Syntex,
== holding out for the same

and holds a Ph.D. in economics from Berkeley. Since 1987, he has been an angel investor and private VC.
== has mundo bucks to gamble on iffy startups in hopes of increasing his mundo $$$$$

He is on the Board of Overseers at the Hoover Institution.)"
== one of the most conservative think-tanks in the U.S.

I am amused at how many of these things could be used to describe 8 years of the Bush administration, however "Believe that the Constitution and the laws of the country do not apply to the Executive Branch of the government or his administration" was left off. Two that Bush perfected are:

"* Use crises to create fear."
"* Use deception –"…in war the end justifies almost any means."

It is so amusing to me that everything negative in 8 years of the Bush administration was caused by Clinton's policies, and even though Obama has only been President for 6 months, all our current problems of the country are because of him. Don't you just love the logic from this man who is portrayed as one of the great brains of our time.
