Obama versus Bush???

Original post made by Melissa, Danbury Park, on Jul 28, 2009

When you really look at the below info and think about the preferential treatment Obama is getting it makes one wonder about the media.

And you think George W. Bush was a dummy?

You Obama supporters, be honest now. Read the following and tell me how you would have reacted:

If George W. Bush had made a joke at the expense of the Special Olympics, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had given Gordon Brown a set of inexpensive and incorrectly formatted DVDs, when Gordon Brown had given him a thoughtful and historically significant gift, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had given the Queen of England an iPod containing videos of his speeches, would you have thought this embarrassingly narcissistic and tacky?

If George W. Bush had bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had visited Austria and made reference to the non-existent "Austrian language," would you have brushed it off as a minor slip?

If George W. Bush had filled his cabinet and circle of advisers with people who cannot seem to keep current or cheated on their income taxes, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had been so Spanish illiterate as to refer to "Cinco de Cuatro" in front of the Mexican ambassador when it was the fourth of May (Cuatro de Mayo), and continued to flub it when he tried again, would you have winced in embarrassment?

If George W. Bush had miss-spelled the word advice would you have hammered him for it for years like Dan Quayle and 'potatoe' as "proof" of what a dunce he is?

If George W. Bush had burned 9,000 gallons of jet fuel to go plant a single tree on "Earth Day", would you have concluded he's a hypocrite?

If George W. Bush's administration had okayed Air Force One flying low over millions of people followed by a jet fighter in downtown Manhattan causing widespread panic, would you have wondered whether they actually "get" what happened on 9-11?

If George W. Bush had been the first President to need a teleprompter installed to be able to get through a press conference, would you have laughed and said this is more

proof of how inept he is on his own and is really controlled by smarter men behind

the scenes?

If George W. Bush had failed to send relief aid to flood victims throughout the Midwest with more people killed or made homeless than in New Orleans , would you want it made into a major ongoing political issue with claims of racism and incompetence?

If George W. Bush had ordered the firing of the CEO of a major corporation, even though he had no constitutional authority to do so, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had proposed to double the national debt, which had taken more than two centuries to accumulate, in one year, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had then proposed to double the debt again 10 times within years, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had reduced your retirement plan's holdings of GM stock by

90% and given the unions a majority stake in GM, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to take Laura Bush to a play in NYC, would you have approved?

So, tell me again, what is it about Obama that makes him so brilliant and impressive? Can't think of anything? Don't worry. He's done all the above in just 5 months -- so be patient you've still got three years and seven months to come up with an

answer.

Melissa,

Where did you COPY that from? Just like the other list about the Health Care Bill, your list is Jibberish!

Say something constructive!

A)What doe you WANT people to say about Obama Specifically?

B) If everyone on the planet agreed with you, would you be satisfied?

Quite interesting and it points out there is a huge double standard and Obama is getting a free pass............so far but it is beginning to change as unemployment continues to rise.

Jibberish Ed? All of these item were on the nightly news and in the paper. Seems to be a pretty accurate list. Bush is still ridiculed for his rather inarticulate manner of speech, why not Obama? He seems to be equally inept in his stuttering, bumbling style of speaking.

Obama displays a "stuttering, bumbling style of speaking"? Just because he takes his time and chooses his words carefully? 99% of the time, he is articulate, cohesive and spot-on-target. There was no way anyone could say the same of Bush. I'm choosing my words regarding Bush's "style of speech" here very carefully so that I don't inflame the argument, but honestly, most of the time he looked and sounded like a third-grader put in front of a microphone, ill-at-ease, casting about for salvation from somewhere, anywhere to save him from the situation. There were so many slip-ups, mispronunciations, and downright nonsensical statements recorded throughout his time in office that there is fodder for "Bushisms quote-of-the-day" calendars for years to come.

Honestly, President (yes, "President" Obama) is a breath of fresh air after the edge-of-our-seat-cringing-tension Americans sat through during every news conference or meeting with heads of state of other countries, wondering how he might embarrass us this time.

We need to face it folks. The way Obama is getting a free pass by the press as well as by us is reverse discrimination. Everyone is so afraid of being non PC and actually holding the accountable. I guarantee that if he were white or Hillary people would be going wild with the stuff this guy is doing and saying. Wake up people this is your country and do not let him destroy it and that is exactly what he is doing.

RESPONSES TO YOUR QUESTIONS:

Q: If George W. Bush had given Gordon Brown a set of inexpensive and incorrectly formatted DVDs, when Gordon Brown had given him a thoughtful and historically significant gift, would you have approved?

A: Everyone agrees the foreign Prime Minister should not have been given a bad gift. However, most of these articles when refer to the pen holder that he gifted Obama that was made of wood taken from HMS GANNET. They also claim that the GANNET was a sister ship to HMS RESOLUTE. In my research, I can find no justification for either claim. Another mistake that I have seen is one that referred to the RESOLUTE as being a ship the Admiralty used in the "campaign against slavery." The closest she came to the slave trade was through her captain, Henry Kellett, who, after his return from the Belcher Expedition in 1854, was commissioned captain of TERMAGANT on the West Indies station. Part of his orders was to monitor and disrupt the illegal cross-Atlantic slave trade. How accurate are the portrayals of Obama's gifts if the Brown's gifts are so misrepresented?

Also, why is the white prime minister giving a memento that is being touted as a reminder of slavery to an American who has African ancestry? That seems insensitive and wrong.

Q: If George W. Bush had given the Queen of England an iPod containing videos of his speeches, would you have thought this embarrassingly narcissistic and tacky?

A: This is an untrue implication (notice the statement doesn't actually say that Obama did it...)

"During their private meeting, President Obama and first lady gave the queen a personalized iPod with video footage of her 2007 visit to Washington and Virginia. She was also given a rare songbook signed by composer Richard Rodgers.

In return the queen and her husband, Prince Philip, gave the Obamas signed portrait of themselves." from AOL news. Look it up.

Q: If George W. Bush had bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia , would you have approved?

A: This is a misleading statement. President Obama and the King of Saudi Arabia bowed to each other, as the King of Saudi Arabia and Bush did during Bush's administration. That is traditional in their country, much like in some Asian cultures.

Q: If George W. Bush had visited Austria and made reference to the non-existent "Austrian language," would you have brushed it off as a minor slip?

A: Bush started a war in Iraq with a minor slip of the tongue that claimed there were weapons of mass destruction there, then admitted later that he had no real intelligence that indicated any MWD were in Iraq. Which "oops" is worse? (Keep in mind, thousands of soldiers have died for Bush's "oops")

Q: If George W. Bush had filled his cabinet and circle of advisers with people who cannot seem to keep current on their income taxes, would you have approved?

A: This is a misleading statement. President Obama had one person who had tax issues. Many of Bush's cabinet and advisors had illegal-immigrants as employees. And during Bush was supposed to be putting a stop to illegal workers. Where was the post on that?

Q: If George W. Bush had been so Spanish illiterate as to refer to Cinco de Cuatro in front of the Mexican ambassador when it was the fourth of May (Cuatro de Mayo), and continued to flub it when he tried again, would you have winced in embarrassment?

A: Bush did similar flubs during his administration. Every president does.

Q: If George W. Bush had mis-spelled the word advice would you have hammered him for it for years like Dan Quayle and potatoe as proof of what a dunce he is?

A: You misspelled "misspell." Don't cast the stone if your house is made of glass. Also, Qualye was hammered for repeating mistakes (how many times do you misspell words before you stop spelling?) Also, it's clear you plan to hammer Obama about this error, so why bring it up?

Q: If George W. Bush had burned 9,000 gallons of jet fuel to go plant a single tree on Earth Day, would you have concluded hes a hypocrite?

A: So you think Bush walked to Earth Day and similar events? Interesting…

Q: If George W. Bushs administration had okayed Air Force One flying low over millions of people followed by a jet fighter in downtown Manhattan causing widespread panic, would you have wondered whether they actually get what happened on 9-11?

A: There is absolutely no proof of this event except in blogs of people who are responding to the rumors of this "story". My brother lives in Queens, and goes to Manhattan frequently to visit friends. If this had happened, he would have been all over it.

Q: If George W. Bush had been the first President to need a teleprompter installed to be able to get through a press conference, would you have laughed and said this is more proof of how inept he is on his own and is really controlled by smarter men behind the scenes?

A: So you think Bush didn't use teleprompters? Or Clinton? Or Bush I? Or Reagan? This is misinformation, naivety or a direct lie (depending on how kind you want to be to the writer).

Q: If George W. Bush had failed to send relief aid to flood victims throughout the Midwest with more people killed or made homeless than in New Orleans , would you want it made into a major ongoing political issue with claims of racism and incompetence?

A: What is this in reference to? Many of the Midwestern states are experiencing flood issues, but none have been asked to be considered a national disaster area. Obama can't send in teams when the states don't ask for help. State's rights do outweigh the national rights in this case. Isn't that something sacred to republicans? So why are we discussing it?

Q: If George W. Bush had ordered the firing of the CEO of a major corporation, even though he had no constitutional authority to do so, would you have approved?

A: If the company is in bail-out mode, the lender has the right to ask for a leadership change. If you have proof the people you are giving money to are incompetent, you can put whatever restrictions you want on that money. And didn't you complain when Obama gave money to the banks, and they used it to pay bonuses? Didn't you say they gov't should have more control? You can't have it both ways.

Q: If George W. Bush had proposed to double the national debt, which had taken more than two centuries to accumulate, in one year, would you have approved?

A: Clinton had all but erased our national debt. The crises we are experiencing now is a direct result of Bush's policies. Bush also lied to us about the national budget by not including the costs of his wars, which should have been in there. It's why the Republicans keep screaming that Obama is spending wildly. They are not acknowledging the true costs of Bush's administration.

Q: If George W. Bush had then proposed to double the debt again within 10 years, would you have approved?

A: Again, Clinton had all but erased our national debt. The crises we are experiencing now is a direct result of Bush's policies over the last 8 years.

Q: If George W. Bush had reduced your retirement plans holdings of GM stock by 90% and given the unions a majority stake in GM, would you have approved?

A: Obama couldn't do that without the union's cooperation. Moot point, assuming it happened, which many of these examples seem not to have.

Q: If George W. Bush had spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to take Laura Bush to a play in NYC, would you have approved?

A: So you believe the Bushes always had pizza delivered and watched a video? Any outing for any President and his family is a planned expenditure, and is expensive because of the planning and protection involved.

So, tell me again, what is it about Obama that makes him such an easy target? Because Republicans really screwed us for the last 8 years and now can blame it on a Democrat!

Obama's numbers are lower than Bush's were at one year into his presidency. This guy sucks and the home team is taking notice.

I don't know how to keep a straight face with all the "I didn't vote for him" former Obamaniacs - that WERE for him!!!

Just one of the most rabid ones that I know has bailed this week - last fall he used to tell me that you'd have to be stupid to NOT vote for Obama.

I was pulling into my regular spot at work, and I noticed that he's scraped the bumper stickers off of his car and is claiming that he didn't vote at all in the last election. This is the same guy that made a big deal about how he gave up half a day's pay to get to the polls early to vote for BO.

This is one of those people who used to intentionally start arguments about politics so he could spout the newest Obama campaign soundbites.

If you lose guys like that, how well can the rest of them be doing?

LMAO
