Unemployemnt NOW 10% 476,000 Jobs LOST in June

Original post made by Jon, Danbury Park, on Jul 2, 2009

Unemployment NOW 10% 476,000 Jobs LOST in June!

Based upon whats been working and whats NOT been working to stimulate job growth, I predict around .5% increase in unemployment per month, for the next year alone.

So in effect, we may realistically see 15% unemployment within a year.

We are in a SERIUOS recession and many predict an all out depression.

One in TEN in the US are UNEMPLOYED and god only knows how many folks are UNDEREMPLOYED! That's a figure we will never quite know.

Yes this is seriously getting way out of hand for sure! We can expect more foreclosures and the overall economy is sinking fast.

One in ten is potentially on unemployment insurance. An one wonders why our economy is sinking?

Obama's a thug - a gangter-style thug who is essentially ruining everything this country has created over hundreds of years in one short fell-swoop.

There is no honor in that. No matter how you try to dress it up and take it out. It's ugly and he is a thug.

We are in an economic pattern that happens every 20 years or more. Each of you are probably not old enough to know this or remember our last major economic downfall in the 80's. History tells us that unemployment during the depression was 29%. We are no where near that figure. Listening to the media only heightens the fear factor. Have patience...we will come out of this just as we have before. I know everyone must blame someone and unfortunately our present President has become the scapegoat. The high's and low's of economics is inevitable and of course you can't sustain on the high's forever. The high's need to correct itself and that is exactly what is happening. What would you have done if the price of homes had reached a point where no one and I mean no one would be able to purchase or the price of gas, etc. Prices can only go so high and then the bubble must burst. Again have patience and you will realize how this economic system works and corrections must take place.

George Bush gave $750 Billion tax dollars to wealthy bankers. Talk about destroying this country...

I am not a fan of Obama, however to attempt to fault him for all the current problems is rather narrow minded. There is plenty of blame to go around. For example, look closer to home and review the demands BART unions are pushing for. Here's a union that wages are already the highest of any rail system in the nation. In addition, BART emlpoyees enjoy benefits almost unheard of in the private sector. A BART employee that retires at 63 with 40 years of service collects 97% of their top salary! And the employee doesn't contribute a penny to their pension! Then one of the most lucertative health care plans anybody has. Employee pay $82 a month regardless of number of family members, while BART covers the rest of the premium which can be as high as $1,868 a month. And here the union is demanding a 3% hike while BART is facing a $100 million shortfall over the next four years. Talk about no concept of reality!

Yeap! I am one of the 1-in-10 unemployed. I have been since Jan 2009. It's amazing how everyone is caught up in the frenzy of Obamaism and how he will save this nation with $10-$15/hour jobs being created. It is incredible how Americans are so gullible and easy to fool. No wonder the bullies on this earth is simply walking through us and we are sheepishly sitting on the sidelines saying... we don't meddle (like Bush or the Republicans)... just wait when it's too late for us to respond... yes, we in the weaker position than before... job-wise and influence-wise. Americans, on this day July 3 - a day before July 4 Independence Day - stand up and be counted and be accountable. This is OUR COUNTRY and whether you are a democrat or a republican, you can't simply stand around and do nothing... speak up!

To 'Love Palin' entry... 750Billion to the Rich Bankers... There are always 2 ways to slice the pie... without the 750Billion, we will all be unemployed... you won't live in your house today... I don't like the bonuses they receive... if that's in the contract, that's in the contract... if you were Union worker, would you like to have your contract voided just like that? So, don't criticize just because you hate the rich... someday you will be there... As for spread the wealth doctrine that Obama is advocating, I think there is a limit to that and one day you and I will be making $15 hour so we are all the same and there won't be any college education needed because college education doesn't buy you anything... Welcome to Socialism!

Unemployed,

I am sorry to hear about your job situation. What kind of work do you do?

I'd like to help a like-minded individual if I can.

"without the 750Billion, we will all be unemployed..."

If that isn't spreading the wealth and socialism, I don't know what is. Where did you get the idea that everyone wouldn't be employed without the $750 Billion for the rich? And since when does a contract with a bankrupt company count for anything? When the FDIC takes over a failed bank, it doesn't pay top management their current salaries, it fires them. Bush/McCain/Palin are socialists. They believe in socialism for the wealthy. Obama believes in socialism for everyone else.

George Bush and Green Span caused our economy to collapse. Obama has not been in the office yet when the economy soured. People don't blame the wrong president! Obama is one of the greatest president in US history!

P.S. I am not a Democrate nor Republican. I am an Independent.

For every $100,000 purchased online, one job is lost in California! Support local businesses!

Johnny, I'm just curious (& not being sarcastic) - what does Obama have to do with you losing 40% of your pay. From your post it almost sounds like you blame him. Without your help I don't see the connection.

A lot of people do blame Obama for the economic mess we are in and I don't understand why. The economy has been in a free fall for quite a while & yet Obama has not yet been in office 6 months.

Julie, I work for a Canadian company which deals with the federal government on commodities such as imported copper, brass, timber, steel and the like from Canada. When Obama forced through the stimulus package provisions of it required all money to be spend on commodities from american companies. Stephen Harper met with Obama in Ottawa and during the meeting reminded Obama that Canada was part of NAFTA and as such expected the provisions to be struck from the language of the stimulus package. Obama complied and then on the next Friday after the package went through he signed an executive order making it the policy of the government to only use US companies for government work. Therefore, even though we are a global company our sales have plummeted and we have laid off thousands and all salaried employees have seen significant reductions in salary.

Unemployed,

I just can't afford to buy things locally thanks to a cut in pay (Johnny would be able to relate to my situation). I literally just got a pair of shoes for 40% off the price when compared to local stores with NO tax and FREE shipping. The product was based out of Oregon and I got it in ONE business day!! I didn't have to drive anywhere and I got a deal I cannot get in Pleasanton or anywhere else without wasting time or money.

I understand your point, but until the cuts stop, I gotta do what I gotta do - I need products and can't waste cash.

Online shopper for life.

There is another way to do it if you want to shop local and I have been doing it and it is a win win. Go into a local shop or small business owner and tell him or her you will pay 5% less than the marked price and you will pay in cash. Since sales tax is now about 10% both he and you get a 5% benefit.

Yes he is a disaster and even now Robert Reich is saying the real unemployment figure is closer to 15% because many are just giving up finding a job. This guy hates the US and we elected him so maybe if we are that stupid we deserve what we get. Boris Putin made him look like a little kid yesterday. We got absolutely nothing out of the trip other than another of his fuel bills for overseas travel.
