Big rig crash at I-580-Grant Line Road cleared at 6 a.m.

The California Highway Patrol has cleared an earlier big rig crash in Alameda County this morning that blocked a portion of westbound Interstate Highway 580 for more than four hours.

Now why do people like to drive this commute everyday over the altamont--oh that's right they like to sit in traffic when ther freeway has a sig alert for an accident. third one on 580 in two days!

Exactly! And to think that there are people who would flow in droves to the surrounding area if certain housing measures would have passed in Livermore. I don't recall exactly how long ago those measures were on the ballot but I do remember thinking how awful it would have been for traffic. That corridor is awful. There's not much of an alternative if there's an accident on 580 and in some places it is very narrow and not able to support the kind of traffic it gets. Come to think of it, there are a lot of highways like that here.
