great news about Ranch 99 - although the Dublin store is fairly convenient to Pleasantonians it will be nice to have a location inside town and keep the tax base / revenues flowing here - and finally Rose Pavilion will improve - there have been too many store closures recently at that plaza - good news all around for Pleasanton

now...what to do about Main Street?

That will fill those parking lots up. 99 Ranch in Dublin always seems to be busy. Tax base definately would help this town.

Haven't you noticed the marked increase in asians moving into pleasanton the last three years? they make up over a third of the population now and are still flowing in. another 5 years and you won't recognize pleasanton.

Neighborhoods change, especially ones which are growing and attracting highly skilled engineers, doctors, software programmers, lawyers, scientists, etc from around the world (including Asia and India). You can't do much to stop it, but you can manage it wisely. Building an Asian supermarket at the vacant Rose Pavillion location is one such wise decision. It will prevent the location from suffering urban decay, provide tax revenue for the city, and serve local Asian residents why would otherwise have to drive (and burn gas) to get to the Dublin Ranch Market.

gee, do i sense a little hostility from Stacey...there is nothing you can do about it. people will live/work where they please, if you don't like it, get out and move your ass out to Montana etc where most of everyone looks like you. No, i'll still recognize pleasanton but feel like i am in Europe.

Hi John,

I can't claim to know the intent of that poster's remarks. I didn't write them. You can verify what I write by checking for the words "is a registered member". Personally, I'm looking forward to 99 Ranch moving in.

Speaking of the Rose Pavilion, my husband and I were discussing recently how one almost never knows what stores exactly are in there. Then I realized there's no big sign advertising the major stores in there visible from the freeway. That could be one of the reasons contributing to the vacancy there.
