Buy the land from the Lins!

I've mentioned this here months ago in another thread. I found an example of a group trying to do just that elsewhere in California...

Group: Don't Develop
Coalition says public needs to know what it could lose or that Banning Ranch's owners could sell the land.

With public and private funds, the land could be bought from Newport Banning Ranch LLC, Terry Welsh, the head of the task force, proposed.

"We see the property being purchased from the owners at a price that is not only reasonable to the city but reasonable to the owners, because they have a right to the land," Welsh said.

When I saw this article I told my friend about how the opposition to Oak Grove is trying to legislate no development on the property through the initiative. She said, "Oh yea, that would never fly around here. It worked once in Sonoma."
