The lap dog of luxury

Original post made on May 21, 2008

Being owned by a dog is a special privilege enjoyed by those who welcome canine companions into their hearts and homes. These four-legged, furry friends become members of our families, and we shape our lives around them, honoring their wacky rituals, giving them time, attention, gifts and soaking up their love and loyalty in return.

I just want to say that Just Dogs! in the Stoneridge Mall is a very nice store, filled with nice people who really care about animals and your story really didn't have much of an impact that I thought it deserved for that store. They also are a dog bakery that sells many many treats, they have some of the most unique items I've ever seen and when you compare 3 of the same type businesses in one acticle, you want to make sure you cover equally to make it fair and give everyone the same amount of exposure as to not cause any hard feelings, etc.

Well if this doesn't take the cake! I have 2 mini doxies and they are the most fun people in the world to be around!

Finally, for the first time in my life, I'm proud of my country!

I hope this is a beginning to Pleasanton being a more dog friendly town.

Nice article, and sounds as if there are some good places to buy pet accessories. Interesting to read about the "dog goggles" to protect the dog's eyes while he hangs his head out the window... although I'm not sure how good an idea that is, hanging out the window; as a society we tell our kids not to do that. Do these stores which carry things to pamper and protect our pooches also sell doggie-seat-restraints? I would hope that more people would realize that the current trend of settling the little "best friends" on their laps, between the steering wheel and the owner/driver's chest is a pretty risky practice. Um, what happens to dear sweet Fluffy when the air bag is deployed in a fender-bender?

Answer for Grace in Highland Oaks: Murphy's Paw carries car seat restraints for dogs. In fact, one of the owners is an expert in occupant protection and strongly supports properly restraining dogs. There is current legislation that would make holding your dog in your lap illegal. However, it doesn't say how the dog should be transported otherwise.

The bill is making its way through the legislative process swiftly.
