Meyer has been with the Red Cross in key management positions since 2001, most recently serving as the senior director of finance and planning for the Western division, which comprises blood regions in Arizona, California, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington.
"I look forward to working with the community and with the hundreds of dedicated American Red Cross volunteers and employees who help to ensure an adequate blood supply in Northern California every day," Meyer said.
One of Meyer's key accomplishments with the Red Cross was overseeing a $41.6 million project, which included the construction of a 201,000-square-foot facility in the Southern California.
"Jeff Meyer brings outstanding leadership skills, coupled with a deep commitment to volunteerism," said Dr. Patricia Austin, chairwoman of the Red Cross board of directors. "With a passion for our mission and the people we serve, Jeff will ensure excellence in Red Cross service."
As CEO of the Northern California Region, Meyer will oversee the collection of nearly 95,000 blood donations for patients in 29 Bay Area hospitals. The region employs more than 300 staff members and hundreds of volunteers in facilities in Pleasanton, Oakland, San Jose, Union City, Pleasant Hill and Newark.
