Letter: McNerney should oppose latest healthcare effort

Dear Editor,

Congressman Jerry McNerney's final chance for healthcare redemption in the eyes of his constituents is fast approaching. The people have overwhelmingly rejected the house and senate's healthcare bills, only 30 percent of the people are in favor. Yet Pelosi/Reid/Obama still insist on throwing their party under the bus by pushing this forward with procedural "tricks" like reconciliation. Real healthcare reform is not in either of these bills. There is no tort reform, there is no ability to purchase insurance across state lines, there is no ability for groups to form their own insurance pools. McNerney voted for the house bill that includes the public option and would cut $500 billion in Medicare back on Dec. 7. Moreover, McNerney has already demonstrated poor judgment by believing the Global Warming hoax and voting for "Cap and Trade" which will raise energy prices on Americans. He has already shown poor judgment by voting for the "stimulus bill" that focused on pork barrel spending and has not resulted in creating any new jobs. Now is an opportunity for McNerney to oppose this latest healthcare cram-down effort and show CD-11 that he was wrong and the people are right. The decision he makes this week will help or haunt him through the November elections. I hope he finally sides with the people and stands up to Pelosi to make the right decision and opposes Obamacare.

Pleasanton deserves better.

David - you actually have some good points in your note regarding tort reform, the inability to purchase health insurance across state lines, and insurance pools. But if you wrap your good ideas in lies and misrepresentations, no one will listen!

You say Pleasanton deserves better. I think you can do better.

It is NOT true that only 30% of people are in favor of the two bills.

Reconciliation is NOT a trick, and has been used more frequently by Republicans than Democrats.

Global warming is NOT a hoax.

The stimulus HAS HELPED avert major disaster (though no one likes paying for it).

David Miller,

Congrats! I didn't know someone could fit so many right-wing talking points and outright lies into one paragraph. Karl Rove would be proud.

Hello, Global warming is a hoax. The data used to prove the assumptions has been proven false.

Web Link

All these plans are just another attempt to exert Government control on the free people of the world.

As far as heath care, why is Government even involved. Ideally, they should roll back the great society and Medicare and make the individual responsible for themselves. I don't want a nanny state that all the politicans are pushing for in Washington.

What happened to the ideal of personal responsibility? I don't want anything from the Government and they shouldn't be able to force me to pay for programs I don't want or approve of.

Shadowbozo,

Global warming is not a hoax. Your link is simply an op-ed from a very conservative newspaper stating an opinion. The data scandal it refers to does not prove all the assumptions false regarding global warming. The emails in question relate to a very specific set of data and limited aspect of climate change, plus the data in question doesn't even disprove that limited aspect of warming.

I don't have time right now to lay out all the details, but you are misrepresenting the truth and using a biased article to support your own predetermined views.

I happen to agree with you on personal responsibility. However, the idea that an insurance company here in CA can raise rates 39% will literally kill people.

I beg to disagree with your opinion. You are following the main street media that wants everyone to believe that Global warming is real. Al Gore and his corrupt friends are making money off this scam. The Climate summit in Copenhagen was shot down due to the fradulent data the scientist were using.

Get your facts right before you bash people on this site.

HEY! Take your global warming debate elsewhere, this space is reserved for heaping abuse upon Jerry McNerney

Jim - very funny!

Still though, Shadowbozo how did I bash you? Somehow willful ignorance is becoming a virtue in this country.

It is a shame that your kids and grandkids will suffer from your philistinism.

I apologize for bringing up the Global Warming scam here on this thread. I do agree we should be talking about McNerny.

Homeowner, I am not ignorant but ashamed that the abuses of the Baby Boom will bankrupt and ruin this country. It is the 60's radicals in power now that are writing checks we can't afford. Who is going to pay the bill? It will be my children and grandchildren.

If I was truly ignorant, I would follow any politican that goes against fact and reason. Did you believe in the 1970's that we were entering an "Ice Age"? It's the same quack science coming out 30 years later.

Time to sign off. Let's agree to disagree and it will be our kids that have to clean up the mess.

I can't wait to send McNutty scurrying back under his rock from which he came from this November. He is a disgrace and he should be ashamed to have aligned himself with the far leftist radicals. Anyone who voted for him and the Demoncats should immediately move to somewhere they would be welcomed, such as, Cuba, Venezuela, China or North Korea. I'm sure they would be welcomed there with open arms.

Sometimes I think that some voters are on the wrong track. This REpublican voter got so mad that he took the law into his own hands. Here's one solution to the baby boom: Web Link sad...

Cholo,

Here is the poster boy of the Democratic Party (Bill Clinton) sending in his storm troopers to kill women and children:

Both political parties are corrupt. It's time to take back the country from the lawyers and politicians.
