Pleasanton Presbyterian Church will sponsor a public Easter sunrise service starting at 6 a.m. Sunday at Shadow Cliffs Regional Park. There is no parking fee for people attending the service. Rev. Mike Barris will deliver the message. The service will end at 7 a.m., followed by coffee and donuts. In case of rain, the service will be moved to Harvest Valley Church, 3200 Hopyard Road. Foothill jazz band to compete in Monterey
The Jazz A band at Foothill High School was chosen from about 1,000 high school bands in the country to compete, for the second time, in the Montery Jazz Festival's "Next Generation" event from April 3 to 6. Bob Moorefiled directs Michael Czaja and Sahil Punamia on alto sax; John Holmgren, Kevin Miller and Kirk Naylor on tenor sax; Anthony DeBenedetti on baritone sax; Maxwell Mensinger, Spencer Miller, Kurt Pretzel, Jessica Saldinger and Dan Yeffa on trumpet; Jeff Buscheck, Steven DePinna, Ryan Fuerstenau, David Gruen and Sam Joda on trombone; Jonathan Lee on piano; Eugene Bang and Joe Alicea on guitar; Kyle Fujino and Sam Shieh on bass; and Tyler Brown and Eric Miller on drums.
