Friday Concerts in the Park start tonight

PDA kicks off annual free music series

Summer is un-officially here. The days are longer, the weather is hotter, and the Pleasanton Downtown Association is kicking off its annual Friday Concerts in the Park series tonight.

From June to September, Pleasanton residents can enjoy free, live music every Friday night at Lions' Wayside Park, 4401 First St. Shows start at 7 p.m., but the most desirable lawn seating always fills up fast, so get there early. It's not uncommon to see people laying out blankets to save a spot on Friday morning. With acts that entertain the whole family, the concerts are a perfect opportunity for a picnic dinner. To keep the concerts fun and safe for everyone, the PDA asks attendees to not bring any alcoholic beverages, plastic tarps, or rocks.

The fun starts tonight with Tommy and the Four Speeds performing classic music from the 50s and 60s. Other bands performing during the summer include rock and pop band Finding Stella, acoustic country/rock band Patti & Abigail and blues band Burton & Company. Many favorite acts from past Friday concerts are also on the bill, including The CoolTones, Night Fever Band, Night Shift, Midnight Hour, Magic Moments, La Ventana and Public Eye.

So, for a little summer fun all it takes is a blanket and a trip down to the park to enjoy the Friday Concerts in the Park series. Visit for more information.

Sabrina, that's because this story is from 2006. Probably the dates in question were Fridays back then.
