In addition to her work in the classroom, Heller has worked as a Vice Principal for the Pleasanton district's summer school program for grades 7-12, and she was an All-District Writing Committee member.

Prior to coming to Pleasanton, she was a teacher at River City High School in West Sacramento for four years, teaching English, remedial reading and ESL classes. She also coached swimming, was an interim High School vice principal, and developed and led the high school's summer school program.
