Historian, author Craig Smith at downtown Pleasanton book store today

Author Craig Smith draws upon military records, diary entries, personal interviews and his own extensive on-the-ground reporting to create a comprehensive picture of the hardships and brutalities faced by both sides of the conflict. Told in their own words, these six individuals share their captivating stories of perseverance, including their struggles in captivity and the small daily triumphs that gave them the hope to continue living. He will be discussing his latest book at 7 p.m., June 21 at Towne Center Books, 555 Main St., Pleasanton. This is a free event but reservations are helpful 846-8826 or email orders@towncenter.com.

I was there at the conflict. It was bad. Really, really bad. You liberal loons just wouldn't understand. What conflict? Are you joking?!?!? God save this great country from the liberal communist living loons that fane ignorance in the face of grate irrudition.
