 | Pleasanton Scouts placed special bronze grave markers with flags on veterans' graves in the city's Pioneer cemetery and at the adjacent St. Augustine Catholic cemetery last Saturday as the three-day Memorial Day weekend got under way.yesterday.
Joining the Scouts was Major Kimberly Tauch with members of the 368th military intelligence battalion from Camp Parks. They placed an American Flag and medallion at the grave site of each veteran. There are 535 veterans interred at the two cemeteries.
The Scouts, under the direction of American Legion's Pleasanton Post 237, spent about four hours decorating the gravesites of those who served in the military, When finished, both cemeteries offered a vision of patriotism for visitors and motorists passing by on Sunol Boulevard. Are you receiving Express, our free daily e-mail edition? Posted by Scoutmaster, a resident of the Country Fair neighborhood, on May 28, 2012 at 2:12 pm Great job by the boy scout and venture crew units of Pleasanton that participated, including troops 941 and 998. Thanks to the VFW and American Legion posts in town for organizing this every year to honor our fallen servicemen and women.
